Chest pain can be very frightening, but many times - especially at your age - it doesn't mean a heart attack. Many times it can be linked to inflammations - especially of the cartilage surrounding the ribs. Certian conditions like fibromyalgia can have this type of pain. It can be transient and cause severe chest pain and great difficulty breathing. It's not usually serious - just painful until it calms down. Also pulled muscles or inflammation of the lungs can cause this type of pain.

The best thing to do is to have a doctor check you out to rule out serious conditions. If you cannot be seen by your doctor today and the pain is causing you difficulty breathing try either your city's urgent care or ER. They normally offer payment plans.

While you're waiting around, try taking an anti-inflammatory such as Motrin. If it is an injury, this will help take the swelling down and help with pain. You can also ice the area where the pain comes the most from.

Mostly likely it isn't anything serious - but more serious conditions need to be ruled out.

u say chest pain and breathlessness.

since how many days? u do not mention if there are any other associated symptoms like cough. there are many causes for breathelssness and chest pain lasting for 2 to 3 hours.

it can be pulmonary causes or even simple gastrites can cause discomfort and pain.but there also more serious causes of sudden pain too.

seek a doctors advice immediatley. the patient may need investigations such as an chest xray to first find out the cause of the sever pain. depending on the cause the tretament will be started.and if the patient is having severe pain and a lot of difficulty breathing it is best to rush and take a doc's advice.

Well, without more information, such as injuries, sickness, fever, patient history, you would not be able to get an accurate diagnosis. But, the most important thing is to get that child to a doctor IMMEDIATELY!! Chest pain is nothing to play around with.

Admit to the hospital. The underlying cause has to ascertained by lab tests and physical examination by the doctor. Some causes are mildly inconvenient, while other causes are serious, even life-threatening.

Agree with 'Terri' up there, I would take this seriously.
I'm thinkin....'Panic Attack', Heart condition or Lung problem(unlikely) or Muscle/Bone disorder.
I'm more concerned about the heart!

Go to ER!
