No. Soy milk and Cow's milk are not the same. Not in any way shape or form.
Your body is able to use soy milk. It is not able to use cow's milk. It is even LESS able to use fat free cow's milk.
Fat isn't the problem. It's good fat vs bad fat. Dairy is bad. PERIOD.
Fat free milk is so highly processed that it's toxic. We're told that it's a good source of calcium. Lie. While there is a lot of calcium in it, all the processing it goes through renders that calcium useless. At least whole milk counts as a protein. Fat free milk is just toxic.
While some folks have recommended light soy milk, I wouldn't recommend it. The more processed something is, the less your body is able to use it.
Look for whole NON-GMO soy milk like Eden Soy. See the links below.

Hi
Regular soymilk has about 100 cal. and around 3.5 grams of fat.
Light Silk (soy milk) has about 1.5 gram of fat and fewer calories.
Now the soymilk is even fortified with fiber and Omega 3 and all sorts of goodness.
There is no fat-free Silk yet, but you can compare those to your whole milk and maybe 1% milk. And well, you wont be hurting baby cows, if that helps your thoughts along.
:)

There is a huge difference from label to label, as well as formula to formula IE Low Fat, Vanilla, etc.
Make sure to read labels, then try several brands to find the Soy Milk that you like best.
Good luck

Soy milk isn't milk at all. One comes from a cow the other from the soy bean. Check the labeling for nutrition facts and you will get your answer.

depends what type you get. honestly I buy my pathmark soymilk, which despite not being a big brand name is great, only 90 calories per serving (the vanilla kind), organic, vegan, just as much protein and calcium as regular milk, and pretty good! The benefit is that theirs no weird hormones.

Soymilk is lactose free, which is why a lot of people drink it. It is low in calories and a bit of good fat is integral to a healthy diet.

Soy milk is not a good choice. 90 % of the soy used in foods today in genetacally modified, containing many toxic compounds. Light commercial milk is no better as it contains pesticide residues, growth hormones, steroids, and synthetic vitamin D. A good choice would be rice milk, preferably homemade using organic, non GM rice-its super easy to make yourself and has zero fat. Google it for several ways to make it. I prefer raw, organic milk fresh from the cow. This can often be obtained through a cow share program at a local food co op. Google raw milk for more info
