I know there is a speacial name for this type of resturant but I just cant think of it.

the actual style of cooking is hibachi.

popular restaraunts are gasho, shiro, bennihana.

I beleive the style of cooking is called Teppanyaki..and I would not recommend going to Benihana but rather look up Teppanyaki and your city and find local restaraunts that way. You'll more than likely pay less, get more food, and have better service. I don't know where you live but try Ichiban...we have one in Minneapolis at it's far more superior compared to Benihana.

Teppan is food cooked on an iron. Sometimes hibachi is used. In the US, tepanyaki is made famous by Benihana.

Teppanyaki bar.

I've been and the chefs are seriously skilled! They have heaps of cool tricks and at the end ( i went of new years eve ) he wrote on the teppan in salt for us - UPSIDE DOWN AND BACKWARDS) - thank you very much and happy new years - upside down and backwards. vvery impressive
