Cellulose is a common material in plant cell walls and was first noted as such in 1533.[citation needed] It occurs naturally in almost pure form in cotton fiber. In combination with lignin and hemicellulose, it is found in all plant material. Cellulose is the most abundant form of living terrestrial biomass [1] with an estimated annual production of 1.5x1012 Tonnes [3].
Some animals, particularly ruminants and termites, can digest cellulose with the help of symbiotic micro-organisms - see methanogen. Cellulose is not digestible by humans, and is often referred to as 'dietary fiber' or 'roughage', acting as a hydrophilic bulking agent for faeces.
Cellulose is the major constituent of paper and textiles made of cotton, linen and other plant fibers; further processing can be performed to make cellophane and rayon, and more recently Modal, a textile derived from beechwood cellulose. Cellulose is used within the laboratory as a solid-state substrate for thin layer chromatography, and cotton linters, is used in the manufacture of nitrocellulose, historically used in smokeless gunpowder.

Cellulose powder is an excellent source of insoluble fiber. Unlike soluble fiber, insoluble fiber does not feed undesirable bacteria well and is not readily fermented into short chain fatty acids. It has no effect on cholesterol levels and inactivates many intestinal toxins.* High intake of insoluble fiber is associated with a decreased risk of unfavorable conditions of the colon, potentially supporting balanced intestinal microbiology.
Cellulose is manufactured from trees such as following:
Cellulose is used to produce rayon and acetate, which can be used to make a vast array of clothing such as ties, shirts, dresses, and suits. Wood pulp and cellulose can be used to make plastics for items such as hair combs. Cellulose products, used for their even-flowing consistency, often thicken cough syrups and other liquid oral medicines. Cellulose can help give lipstick its easy-apply texture. Makeup sometimes gets its creamy texture from the tree derivative cellulose. Cellulose powder is sometimes used to help keep grated Parmesan cheese pieces from caking together. Cellulose is broken down into chemicals that can be used to make sponges. Cellulose can be used in toothpaste to give it a paste-like consistency

It is sawdust used in your parmesan cheese to keep it from sticking together. How about a little sawdust? Creepy.
