for any child who is ill, increasing liquids is imperative. do not withhold any for fear that it will dilute medication!!!
cough medicine will lose its effect only if the other liquid is mixed directly into the bottle.

no. it will even help you in relieving your symptoms. water keeps you hydrated. this keeps phlegm "diluted".
