I am a college student and have been feeling ill. I went to the clinic on campus yesterday and they took a nasal swab flu test and prescribed me a medication (Tamiflu) to treat the flu. Last night and throughout today i have been feeling a uncomfortable pressure in my chest. I called the clinic and spoke to a nurse who told me that it was just my flu progressing. My mom and my boyfriend are worried that it might be pneumonia or bronchitis. Should I go to a different doctor's office, or should i trust that i really have the flu and wait for the results of my nasal swab?

pneumonia and bronchitis can develop from the flu. If you're concerned, go back to the physician and get them to check your lung sounds.

Flu symptoms usually include an uncomfortable feeling in chest. The flu has to run its course. There is no good treatment for bronchitis and some even say it's best left alone.

Wait for the nasal swab--that's what another doctor would do anyway. If this is just a virus, there is nothing you can do. It just takes time to run it's course. The swab will tell if you have a bacterial infection that requires medication.

Definately go to a different doc. I was just diagnosed with bronchitus. They can tell by listening to your lungs. They gave me Zithromax ant-b, and Albuterol inhaler. Good luck - and get a 2nd opinion.

Pressure in your chest is not a flu symptom, that I know of. Please go to a different dr. asap to get checked out. Do you hear even the littlest bit of wheezing as you breathe? Whether you do or not, please go to the dr. Take care.

Trust your own instincts. A second opinion never hurts.
