you can have herpes with out even knowing you have them and still spread them. you don't have to have a out break to spread them. you can have them right now and never had a out brake. and there is alot of people that has some kind of form of herpes. either it's a cold sore or genital.(And just because you or somebody has genital herpes still can be spread on other parts of the body) you can have herpes in your system for years before you could find out.. just remember just because you would have them doesn't mean you will have a out brake.

There are about 8 different herpes viruses. Chicken pox is caused be a herpes virus and you develops symptoms about 2 days later. Most people have the herpes CMV virus but only those that are immunocompromised tend to get the actual disease. With herpes simplex it depends on the person when the first outbreak occurs. The location of the 2nd outbreak determines which type of herpes simplex you have (the one that effects the mouth or genital region).

90% of those who have genital herpes do not know it. Either they have no syptoms at all, or they are so mild they do not notice them. 25% of the population actually has the virus. Most never develop a symptom, so they assume they do not have it. Even though they have no symptoms, they can still spread it. 70% of those who contract it, did so when their partner had no symptoms.

Each person who is sexually active should have bloodwork done to see if they carry the virus. This is the only way to know for sure if you have it.

There is no known cure for Herpes, so it is permanently in your system. It can show up for the first time anywhere from immediately to about 6 weeks I think before you know that you have it. However, you might never see the signs of it which is why it is transmitted to so many people. Someone who is infected and doesn't know it because it never showed itself will pass it on to as many partners as they have.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

It took around 3 months for my symptoms to develop. My partner had cold sores - thats how I got herpes. Didn't even know you could catch it that way. Type Sad thing was, he didn't have any cold sores the one time we had oral sex (when I caught them).

I was infected pretty badly and took me a while for me to recover because I was also given chlamydia and doctors found I had endometreosis. Wasn't a good year for me I can tell you. Hopefully this will warn others...

Most people have an outbreak within the first thirty days, but a lot of people just don't notice it because the first one is typically small.
