people who know each other well and new people.
Appetizers, drinks and music also help alot, but you can have all that with out people you don't have a party :)

the right people and if you're a drinker, then booze!! and people like to eat when they're drunk and a comfortable place to stay so no one has to drive and a shelter outside for smoking
