I am having an "in home" spice of life party for about 20 people and I dont want to make the worn out old sloppy joe's like always but I want something along those lines for this party, like a pulled pork sandwich or something type thing, does anyone have any ideas for something that will have everyone talking?

Well you could make a awsome type of shrimp tray. with like spicy sauce, lemon, garlic powder, chili, and tarter sauce and coctail sauce. just try to mix good things and see if its goood. :0) well also you could try a thing i like to call mexican pizza dip..... and its good.

well first you take a dish and layer these things...


sour cream
chili beans
then sprinkle mexican cheese

after just putt it in the microwave for about 10 min and wala!!!!!! its ready

I love making a couple of different appetizers. Here is a few very simple and fast to make.

Salmon roll ups
you'll need
room tempature cream cheese
some dry dill
smoked salmon
tortillas

smear cream cheese on tortilla
sprinkle with dill
add a thin layer of smoked salmon
roll up tortilla and cut in 1/2 inch slices

Garlic Cheese spread
you'll need
marble cheese
minced garlic
miracle whip

grate cheese
add lots of garlic
just enough miracle whip to bind together
let sit for at least 1hr

serve with your favourite crackers

Crab and Shrimp Spread
you'll need
block of cream cheese
can of crab meat
salad shrimp
cocktail sauce
dill

mix cream cheese, crab, dill, cocktail sauce, salad shrimp together
place in a pretty glass bowl, garnish with more cocktail sauce and a few whole shrimp
serve with favourite crackers

Simple Kebobs
you'll need
cheese tortellini
italian salad dressing
boccocini cheese
proscuitto
olives
small skewers

cook tortellini by package directions
let cool and marinate in italian dressing
alternate tortellini, cheese, proscuitto and olives
(I use these great garlic stuffed olives, but any large olives you like will do)

Something super duper inexpensive, and cheap but you can dress it up by putting it in fancy dishware.
Marinated cut-up vegetables. All you need to do is purchase carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, and any other type of vegetables you enjoy. But firm vegetables work best. Cut them medium bite size chunks, pick out your favorite oily Italian salad dressing. It doesn't necessarily have to be Italian but most people like that flavor, it can be almost any type of oil and vinegar dressing such as balsamic etc, raspberry etc......, but it must have oil and vinegar in it because that is needed to marinade the vegetables. Soak the vegetables for at least 12 hrs, no less than 6 hrs., the next day would be great. The longer they soak the softer they become, so depending on how firm you want your vegetables depends on a long you allow them to soak. It taste wonderful and your guest will never know how inexpensive and easy it was to prepare.

I like to make brushetta with a little twist.

You can either buy brushetta in the store, or following the recipe below:

You'll need:
tomatoes
basil (fresh or dried)
french bread or baguette
cream cheese (depending on how much you make 1 or 2 pks)
two to three heads of garlic
olive oil
grated parm


Before you start: take out your cream cheese and let it soften.


Dice a few tomatoes (and try to squeeze some not all of the juice out), then add chopped garlic, basil, a few drizzles of olive oil, and
salt and pepper to your liking. Sometimes I also add finely diced onions.

Cover the bowl and set in fridge until your ready to use.

In the meantime, roast a whole head of garlic or two. To do this you need to chop the top off to expose the garlic, drizzle with olive oil, then wrap in foil in put in your oven or toaster oven for about an hour on 375 - 400 degrees.

While your garlic is roasting, slice your bread, then drizzle with olive oil and some grated parm (I prefer Locatelli cheese), and stick under the broiler for a minute or until golden brown (not burnt).

Once the garlic is finished, let it cool for a bit and then squeeze the roast garlic cloves it out of the skin into a bowl, mash, then add to your softened cream cheese.

Once fully incorporated, spread cream cheese mixture onto the sliced bread, you can let that sit at room temperature (or in the fridge if it's too hot in your house) until your ready to serve. Once your ready to serve, top off with your brushetta.

It's delicious and simple!

Try "tea sandwiches". They were an old standby people used to make. Usually they are along the lines of multigrain breads spread with butter and adding cucumber slices. Then cut in fours. Well, making your own pulled pork sandwich would be very tasty, but time consuming. Take a pork butt and season it with cumin, garlic, salt, pepper, and chili powder. Put it in your slow cooker for approximately 6 hours. Pour a bottle of barbecue sauce mixed with 1/2 cup red wine vinegar over it and continue to cook until the meat separates easily with a fork. Remove from crock pot and shred by using two forks. Put meat in serving dish and either use more of your favorite bbq sauce or make a sauce of tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar to pour over it. Serve with great rolls and cole slaw.

Now, if you want less muss and fuss, try something different: Lasagne (I get raves on this one)

1 pkg lasagne noodles, cooked and drained
2 lbs ground spicy turkey sausage (removed from casings)
3 T Italian Herbs
1 28 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 yellow onion chopped fine
1/4 cup good olive oil
1 16 oz pkg Velveeta cheese
1 pkg shredded Italian Blend cheese
1 pkg shredded Parmesan

Saute onion in 1 T olive oil until translucent. Add Italian sausage and cook until crumbly and no longer pink. Drain excess oil. Add tomato sauce, herbs, and olive oil. Simmer for approximately 15 minutes. Add 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper. Cut Velveeta into 1/2 inch slices. Layer noodles, sauce, velveeta, shredded Italian blend and repeat until you end with sauce. Top with remaining Italian blend and parmesan. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until cheeses are melted and lasagne is bubbling. Serve this with cheesy garlic french bread and caesar salad. For dessert, have angel food cake squares to dip in melted semi-sweet chocolate.

Set up a taco buffet. You can prepare a couple different variations of spice with the meat. Have all the fixin's and a few varieties of cheeses and hot sauces plus hard and soft shells for everyone to make their own tacos to their personal tastes.

Simple:

1. No work except arranging: One huge platter with black and green olives in center surrounded by two or three different cheeses from mild to sharp surrounded by two or three coldcuts rolled up like prosciutto, hot sopressata, peppermill turkey, surrounded by veggie sticks like celery and baby carrots. This will cater to all taste.

This one you won't believe me but try anyway:
2. Pate

It's crazy expensive in gourment stores!!!! But it costs less than 10 bucks to make and it is unbelievable easy and quick. Serve with toasted french bread or italian bread slices. There is a great recipe at the site below.

We always make cocktail weenies with home made barbeque sauce. The sauce is 50/50 ketchup and grape jelly. Just put them both in a saucepan and simmer then add hotdog slices and serve with pretzel sticks instead of toothpicks. Always a hit.

Sure bbq sauce is cheaper but it's not home made !!!

Try tacos, except instead of frying ground beef, put a roast in the slower cooker with the taco seasonings. Cook until it is falling apart tender and shredable. Add a side of homemade guacamole...so yummy!
