I was reading a question by another YA member, and he was thrashed by another member. For the record, I eat my steaks rare, I am of perfect health, and I love granola.

Also for the record I have not yet been attacked. I do not subscribe to the practice to Veganism, I don't know if I should be on eggshells. Now days it seems like saying something that may be percieved as offensive about veganism is like saying the N-word.

For the record I now am a victim of hate. I intentionally put the rarest form of meat eating to see if I indeed would get attacked. Sure enough I did, I also got a cool native american story. I have not yet passed judjement, and I ask you do the same ignoramous.

For the record, I do not oppose veganism or turdism or whateverism. My question demands a mere yes or no answer. If you chose yes, then by all means feel free to explain. My masculinity by no means has been attack nor will it ever. What has been attacked is my intelect. Getting doused with far fetched stories of animal judgements to secure my place in the "Great" section of the after life is plain dumb.

I will admit that crime was a strong/unappropriate word. Also, this is the perfect section to post such a question my friends. Why? Because I said so. Remember, more than just vegans come to this section of the woods. (Not just veggie bashers. Example: a nutritionist who can offer advice, or maybe a new prospect of veganism, or people like me who want to be enlightened) So my fair lady, if you take a moment to step off your high feministic Miriam Webster horse. Maybe you might be enlightened.

Late addition,

Maxie Marie, I just have to get this off my chest....

I have found out from your vegan sisters and brethren that fox hunter was a fraud. His false scenario was indeed a hate crime. Last get a clue, and you might not look like such a clown in the adult conversation.

I have not been a victim of anything I would label a hate-crime.
I have never heard of vegans being tied to the back of some hillbilly's pickup truck and driven down the road until they are completely dead like gays and black people have.
Nor have I heard of vegans doing this to others.

We are victims of ignorance. We are victims of rude and insulting people. But that is what happens when you believe in something. Those who believe in nothing, or those who believe your something makes them look bad, look for as many ways as possible to attack you.

You can see that we deal with this quite often by the ways even vegetarians (and those who think vegetarianism is a good idea) go off on questions such as these. They are certain that in some way, your question is trying to attack them. Those questions happen a lot in this section.

EDIT- I you are referring to foxhunter's question, and if you are not one of his alter-personalities, I suggest you look into his history. If there was such a thing as a Y!Answers-Hate crime, this guy would be the culprit.
That waiter never existed. If a vegan could so greatly not handle the fact that others eat meat, he would not be a waiter.

"Victims of vegan hate crimes" is maybe a bit overdrawn, don't you think so? The fact is, that vegetarians and vegans have to put up with a lot of stupidity due to a general ignorance and lack of interest. Hearing the same sterotype questions and comments over a long time can be very annoying and frustrating, but what is more annoying are accusations and prejudices based on nothing but the fact, that some people stick to a different life style. But then again, not everyone has the same IQ.

Have you been attacked by a vegan?
I am a vegan and have not attacked or been attacked by anyone based on that.

I believe I know the question you are referring to and will denounce as fabrication. No vegan would destroy a lobster cooked for a meal, because the vegan would only see the eating of that lobster as the only possible good to come from the life the lobster gave up.

And what is wrong with looking like a clown. Am I the victim of a hate crime?

Someone in one of my FB group had this happen to her today. She left and went to work or something and someone placed dead pheasants on her yard hangers while she was gone. They know her in her neighborhood as an animal rights activist and a vegan. This is absurd. I would make you do time if I found out who you were for criminal harassment. Veganism is based in science and logic. You can find poor information on literally everything in life including veganism and if you want food info you may have to dig. Animals are dying because people like their taste, but it costs immensely more resources, destroys forests for cattle, pollutes in numerous and measurable ways and the worst part is that there are options to eating animals or their babies, secretions, ovulations, or vomit. Grow up and face the music. Veganism is a moral baseline. Doing this to people who have a set of internal values is a hate crime.

I take unprovoked ridicule and threats of having meat secretly put in my food every single time I eat in a group. I very much doubt that a meat-eater gets that kind of childish hostility every day. Before you say that I should keep my veganism to myself, how many meat eaters hide their dietary choices around the dinner table? None. And I don't make a fuss over my veganism either. It's hard for people not to notice that my plate contains no meat or cheese. I don't prevent you from eating what you eat so why make an issue out of it? Do you feel guilty and want to attack someone? Or can you not get your head around the idea that someone feels differently from the majority?

I'm a vegan who has never committed a hate
crime. Nor have I done anything to antagonize
or provoke anyone.

Are these incidents hate-crimes? I'll let you decide.

1. One night when I came out of Super Walmart
I found ketchup, mustard and a bun of some
sort smeared across my front window.
The culprits made sure to cover up my
" Go Veg.com" sticker.

2. Some obese hillbillies were riding my bumper,
honking and laughing and just as they passed
me on a one lane highway they threw a balled up
McDonald's wrapper through my window.

3. One day when I was using free weights to do
fly presses at the gym two other males
mumbled " Oh look at granola boy".

I don't make it a habit to whine and moan and
exclaim, "It's so hard to be me" but well......

Vegans get attacked more than you.
Carnists throw meat at us, spit in our food, and generally try and spike it with thinks like milk and meat juices which is insanely disrespectful, they also post hate speech in the form of memes calling vegans names, even going as afar as questioning a vegans sexuality "so gay!" or gender "only real men" and they only do it to vegans as a specific minority group.

Dear Navy:

Wouldn't this question be more suitable in the "meat department?"

You come to the veg section and ask a question that is rather unkind to veg people. It's as if you were specifically looking for a fight.

Rather like walking into the tenderloin district and shouting racial slurs.

How is voicing one's opinion a crime? Have you been beaten? Have you been robbed? Has a cross been burned on your lawn?

Disagreeing with you is not a hate crime. It's called Debate. It's an all American favorite.

Let me clarify for you. This is how the American Heritage Dictionary describes Hate Crime:

NOUN:
A crime motivated by prejudice against a social group: "[His]murders were hate crimes targeting victims by gender" (Jane Caputi and Diana E.H. Russell).

Just incase you're confused as to what Crime is, here is its definition:

NOUN:
An act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction.
Unlawful activity: statistics relating to violent crime.
A serious offense, especially one in violation of morality.
An unjust, senseless, or disgraceful act or condition: It's a crime to squander our country's natural resources.

So, explain to me, please when our First Amendment Right to Free Speech was revoked? What law has anyone broken in disagreeing with you?

You accuse Beebs of attacking you. Her post is polite and completely articulate. Not in any way an attack. Unless her intelligence offends your masculinity.

Ah well. Can't help you there.

If debate unsettles you so much perhaps Yahoo Answers is just not your cup of tea.
