If you are concerned you could do a heavy metals detox now and then. That way it'll ease your mind and if there are any heavy metals lingering in your body then you could flush them out.
One way of doing it is through chelation therapy. But there's many other ways also.

If you're a grown man, you shouldn't be too concern with mercury levels. Children and Women at childbearing age should be more careful, 2-3 servings a week is safe.
The general rule of thrumb is that those larger fish that lives longer, shark and swordfish, would accumilate higher mercury levels.
Here's a great website for list of safe seafood choice.

People all over Japan eat sushi everyday. One of my friends is Japanese and her family eats sushi a lot as well. I don't think its hazardous to your health if the fish is fresh. You shouldn't be to worried and its delicious to eat! So just choose the right fish to eat and enjoy yourself. I know I wouldn't stop eating it.

I've been eating it for years. There was a time I was eating it 3 times a week. I'm down to once a week (cost) now but that doesn't include picking it up at the grocery store for lunch once, or twice a week! see my name!
