I am worried about my mom. She said her left side hurts when standing for a longer time or walking. Apparetly, the doctor doesn't know the cause. She just rescently (last week) started blood pressure meds but they make her dizzy and feel like fainting. Any suggestions, ideas. She is 65 petite 5'2, 130.

it's possible the pain on the left side is muscle strain. I say this because the symptoms you describe relate to overuse of the muscle. It's difficult for me to completely answer without physically examining your mother. Definitely you need to get better blood pressure medication. You should get on the telephone and call the doctor immediately and explain the symptoms she is experiencing. This is not good. If you don't feel you are getting enough help from the doctor seek a second opinion As soon as possible. These medications could be causing more problems than helping.

Your Mom may be having a "orthopedic" problem with her back or hip, like arthritis or "sore muscle" from a strain etc.She could try a heating pad for a couple day's to see if that will help. The side effects from most anti-hypertensive drugs can be unpleasant, they usually subside in a few days.Since your Mom is so petite, she may need to have the dose of her anti-hypertensive med's adjusted by her MD.Take care. You should be at least concerned. Have her talk to the doctor about the dizziness. It seems that her meds need adjusted. The left side hurting is a different problem that needs a doctor to know about as well.
