i have HSV1 and 2 and don't know how i contracted it. However, I told my husband even before we were dating. He is okay with it. Don't get hurt if he steps back. It means, he doesn't want to deal with it. He isn't serious with you and he can't take you seriously but he takes your matter seriously. If he doesn't know what HSV is, explain to him. For example, can't have unprotected sex while having outbreak but it can't kill, just annoying. painful and itchy. It's not curable and it will be with the person for the rest of the life. Visit to the link below and it has all kinds of herpes information. Relax. you aren't alone.

Just tell him you get cold sores "down there." Act like it isn't a big deal because it really isn't. That won't freak him out as much as herpes. If you act like it's no big deal, he will likely respond that way. Just let him know you want to be honest and hope he doesn't think any less of you. If he does, let him go. The right guy for you will stick with you no matter what. Plus... Don't assume he is free of STD's, he may already have it and not know. Have him get tested.

Correction, it's not 'you've had herpes' it's you "HAVE" herpes. Be open and tell him up front. Trust is either earned or it will never be there in any relationship you may develop.

when the time comes that its necessary he know, before sexual intimacy. How? Just tell him, and describe the precautions you will be taking together.
