CUTE IDEAS..CHECK THEM OUT

Got an adorable one for you. Crush Oreo cookies (or a plain chocolate cookie if you insist lol). Frost and then dip in the crushed cookies.

You now have a "dirt" based cupcake. Now your imagination is your only limit. For the spring theme I would stick a "flower" in it so it looks like a flower is coming up. If you know how to make flowers you can pipe them ontop, or add to skewer. If you want to make it super easy then you can just use a silk flower that you washed the stem and remove after serving. A pinwheel would be fun too.

There are tons of fun variations. You can use a layer of chocolate pudding instead of frosting beneath the "dirt" layer. You can get colored gummy worms and spread them around. You can make this as a sheet cake and use this theme too. And if you really want to knock folks socks off bake them in terra cotta pots. It will be stunning that way.

Depending how much a fuss you want to make over this, if you have a cake decorating store near you (or want to shop online) there are all sorts of decorations you could buy (such as butterflies, pre-made flowers, etc). You definately can make great ones without this, but if you want something truly spectacular that's a thought. And these all are very easy...just a little more $$ then say a silk flower.

I think this basic idea is perfect for spring and will amuse folks of all ages! Bet you will steal the show with these!

ETA...did a fast web search to see if I could find you a visual of what I had in mind, cause they are so darn cute! Of course I couldn't (although I know there are some out there). But this site had some great and easy other cupcake ideas so thought you might want to check it out.

But a disclaimer...I'm still partial to using oreo "dirt" just cause it's SOO easy/tasty/fun! lolol

A couple years ago I brought these cupcakes to my office food party:
They're really simple. Just bake boxed cupcakes like you normally would. Then buy the ready-made vanilla frosting and tint it with food coloring...preferably either pink or purple. Then buy a couple packs of Peeps and put one on top of each cupcake. Then just for presentation, get an oval-shaped platter, fill it with easter grass, and set them on there. They look like Easter eggs!! Really festive! Hope this helps... :)

Check the produce section of you local market for edible flowers. If the local store doesn't have it look for stores like Fresh market, Wild Oats, Wegmans - that type of store. Then just bake your cupcakes, use canned white or vanilla frosting and top with a flower or two. Can't get more spring like than that - or easier!

I am a cupcake fan!!! Make extra large cupcakes and frost with a creamy white frosting. Purchase candy items that include:

1. orange slices
2. spearment slices
3. gum drops
4. twizzler strawberry licorice
5. Jelly Beans
6. Neccos
7. Cake decorations in bottles (mixed types and flavors)

You can make flowers by cutting gum drops into "petals" and placing on your cup cake. Use twizzler strings in strawberry to make lattice work. Most of all, use your imagination!

Ladybugs, or any friendly fun bug that you make you think of spring. For lady bug, use black gum drop for body, pull apart licorice for antennas, red icing for the wings. Just cut the gum drop in half, flat side on cupcake, attach antennas, the use red icing to cover topside of gum drop

You can use white frosting and add different toppings, like coconut colored with food dye, or jelly belly jellybeans, shavings of white and milk chocolate. Using a white base for your frosting and then topping with colorful treats lets the color pop and hence shows the color of spring time.

Brightly colored sprinkles on white frosting, those little sugar decorations they sell at grocery stores, perhaps a small fake flower you can remove before eating
