Hello honey! It's okay...take a deep breath...

As a young lady going through puberty, you are going to have a lot of hormonal imbalances going on with you because your body is going through drastic changes. I know it's common that after your menstrual cycle, you tend to get different colored discharge ranging from milky white (can be conclusive with a yeast infection) to brownish or slightly blood-tinged. That especially occurs after ovulation. Are you taking oral contraceptives? The various hormones in contraceptives could be a culprit for your abnormal discharge.

Because you are young and probably not too long ago started a menstrual cycle, your body maybe trying to regulate your cycle, causing abnormal discharge and/or bleeding. It may take some time for it to get on track, but in any case, see a doctor.

It could also be an STD, considering that you are sexually active. STDs come in various forms and symptoms. They act differently in different people, and your discharge may pinpoint a more serious problem.

I really advise you to see a doctor. I know that is easier said than done, but trust me, there are ways to make the impossible possible. First, find a trustworthy adult. Do you have any friends that you really trust whose parents you can talk to? There are also hotlines and counseling centers available that can give you the best advice. Although I don't know the relationship between you and your mom, I think you should give her a chance. I know that you really don't want your mom delving into your personal life, but remember, she was your age once; I'm sure she'd understand. I know it's hard, but you can do it. I wish you the best of luck!

ok.. first you need to calm down. You say your discharge is different. Are you dealing with any other symptoms? Itching? Burning? Have you looked down there to see if anything else looks different? It is possible it is due to hormonal changes. Many women find that their discharge changes with age and their cycle.

It is also possible you have developed a yeast infection. This can change it as well.

If you are sexually active, then it is always possible you have contracted an STD. The only way to know is to talk to a dr. If you cannot talk to your mom, is there any other adult you can trust? If not, you can contact your local health department. They can test to see if you have anything else. They are trained to work with women of all ages, and they will not tell your parents. They will also provide you with financial assistance, so you don't have to worry about paying for the visit.

Good luck!

There are several reasons why discharges are different colors. If it is white and itches then maybe a yeast infection. You can buy over the counter things for that at any drug store. But if it stinks like fish, itches, and is another color, you can have a sexually transmitted disease. You can go to Planned Parent Hood for a small amount of money and in most states parents do not need to know. All STD's except aids can be healed with meds. So Run do not Walk to a Planned Parent Hood place and take care of yourself. As a mom, I would rather my daughter take care of herself than for her to be afriad I would find out she was sexually active.

You really need to see a doctor. You should tell your mom you think you have a yeast infection--it's not an STD--or that you have irregular periods, or whatever and need a gyn check up. If you can't do that, call Planned Parenthood or a local county or free clinic and get seen. Your health is important. If you have an STD you may be risking your future fertility and health. While you are there, you need to talk to your doctor about using birthcontrol to prevent pregnancy, and then use a second method to prevent STD's. Birth control pills AND condoms should be mandatory for anyone that wants to touch your body. Demand respect, or tell them to find someone else to take advantage of.

Planned parenthood is not just about birth control, it is for all reproductive matters. This counts. Planned parenthood will see you and diagnose the problem on a sliding fee scale. They are confidential, and you really need to see them for birth control if you are sexually active. If you are embarassed to tell your mom about this, how would you tell her if you got pregnant? How will you tell your future sex partners you have herpes or some other disease? If you don't want to have these conversations, then please prevent them with a quick trip to Planned Parenthood, your family doctor, or your health care provider.

The bummer here is your problem may have nothing to do with your decision to have sex. You may have irregular bleeding, a hormonal problem, or some other 'normal' thing but it's all confused and complicated because of your sexual experience and your embarassment.

If you feel you are mature enough to have sex, then please be mature enough to protect your future.

I know you said you havn't been having any other symptoms, just the discharge, but maybe you have a cyst. I have them(ovarian cysts)..many women do..they are very common and usually not painful or have any symptoms. Usually when they rupture they hurt me a lot, but two different times when they ruptured I didn't feel anything, I just had a discharge for close to 3 weeks. It didn't smell..no other symptoms..it was brown/rust colored..kind of sounds similar to what you are experiancing. Get it checked out for sure..soon. And you could tell your mom you are having female problems and just leave out the sexually active part. Take care.

The best part about going to an expert when you have a serious question is learning the answer alleviates your fear. It is much easier to deal with a known problem than to imagine many of them. See a doctor.

Did you just recently end your menstrual cycle. somtimes when you have sex right when you have ended your mestrual cycle, not to be gross , but the last of the blood will be dark brown.
