You stated that he had a pulmonary test done, did that include a methacholine challenge and if so how sensitive was his reaction?
DON"T give him honey, it's not pasteurized and is FULL of things such as pollen that can cause increased reactions. Wash the curtains in his room weekly, use dust covers on his pillow and mattress. You can get these for a reasonable cost a k-mart and walmart. Vacuum the house weekly. If you have pets, keep them out of his bedroom and NEVER let them on his bed. He is definitely exhibiting signs of allergies and you've stated that he is being tested, however, he also has signs of allergic asthma. With regards to his inhalers---is he using the MDI form and if so, does he use a spacing chamber when using them and does he perform a good 10 second breath hold after inhaling? Does he wait a full minute before doing the nest inhalation? If not, get a spacer from your MD and start using it. 85% more medication actually gets into the lungs if you use one. You might want to ask you MD about singular, this is a oral medication that is a leukotriene inhibitor. Leukotrienes cause swelling of the bronchial tubes, which in turn causes difficulty breathing and a cough. The humidifier is OK, but change the water regularly to prevent bacterial build up. Good luck.

This is a very important and useful report especially for yourself and your precious family. I used to have serious allergic symptoms but after I switched those household toxic products to safe, non-toxic products all the symptoms, both respiratory and skin, were gone away. Taking a reference to the report below, if you switch your toxic products to products that do not have those toxic chemical ingredients it will help you and your family's health immensely! It is an easy project to go through the house and collecting all those unsafe products. You and your family can do this together. Even just switching out a laundry detergent can affect your health considerably. (Actually, I have heard of a few people who have survived from cancer by removing these types of products from their home including cleansers and laundry products, personal hygiene and even cosmetic products) So if you want you can download the free report without putting in any of your personal information:

Also, if you know anyone you think is using too many of these chemical (toxic) products or that has serious allergy problems please send this report to them, too.
This report was a real eye-opener and very beneficial for us. I hope it is for you and your family too.

Probably an upper airway irritation. The xray needs to be interpreted. An allergy test to rule out specifics. Hope this helps.

Sugar and milk cause the cough to be worse and exercise but you can't stop a child from running.

GIVE HIM LICORICE STICK TO CHEW. ALSO GIVE HIM 3-4 TIMES HONEY WATER (2-3 TABLESPOON IN A GLASS OF WATER). THE MEDICATION YOU HAVE GIVEN DO CAUSE SUCH PROBLEMS.
