Mariachi music is just beautiful if you are entertaining hispanics
mostly Mexicans and the theme is mexican cuisine etc .
I think that if we are entertaining mixed ethnicity, whether
Hispanic or Asian, etc. and it is a dinner party then the
theme should be more of a blanket to please the invitees
such as dim light, mixed cuisine, soft music,(violins, piano, harp,
white or red wine cheeses of all kinds. I'm reading my answer
and I am laughing cause it sounds so stuffy but I really mean
a non formal get together, although a sit down dinner. You can
have servers or buffet.......you can also just have soft music,

Only if your guests are of Mexican descent. Other races might want other music.
There are songs that are happy that aren't race-specific.
