Spanish rice and beans=
Heavy pot, put in 1 can gandules, tablespoon oil, 2 packets Sazon, Adobo to taste, 2 tbs of Sofrito, bring to a simmer, add 2 cups water and 2 cups uncooked rice bring to boil then reduce heat to low and simmer until all water is absorbed....you may add meat and pitted olives w /capers if you choose...if you do then u would fry the meat in the oil then add everything else and continue from there

for the beans (I assume refried) go to the store and make shure you get the "mexican refried beans " not just "refried beans" there is a difference. the rice itslef is a seasoned rice , so you can just buy the seasoning.

for re fried beans they usually use lard....however, i don't eat pork or anything deriving from it....so I'll give you my family's recipe!
1. you have to boil the beans first with salt (if you add salt later they don't taste the same).
2. in a pan, add olive oil, a fresh green jalapeno, and some diced onions....when the onions are lightly browned....add the beans (with some of the water they were boiled in)...and them just mash them like you would potatoes.....if you'd like add more salt!!! enjoy!! let me know how they taste!!
