I believe so because I only got a 2 week case of bronchitis every 2-3 years but recently matter of fact since New Years I have suffered with a bad case of bronchitis it started out as a normal case but has now turned into a bronchial/asthma infection. After
3 repeats of antibiotics an 3 repeats of prednisone I finally had
to get on a breathing machine with albuterol. Then she had to put me on two kinds of inhalers. I received the bad news yesterday that it will a be a permanent thing for the rest of my life of taking inhalers she says that now I could get pneumonia easy and have to take my breathing machine with me when I go out of town this summer.

Yes. I have asthma and I would say that you have chronic bronchitis if not asthma. If I were you, I would go to the doctor. He will send you to a specialist. The specialist will run some respitory tests ( all painless ) and see exactly what you have. He may be able to prescribe an albuterol inhaler for emergencies and other preventative medication such as Advair and Singulair, both of which I use and they have helped me out.

Asthma is not that hard to live with, so don't be afriad to go find out. I have heard stories of people who didn't know they had asthma, and all of a sudden they have a massive attack and dont have an inhaler nearby. Do yourself a favor and get it checked out.

Hope I could help you out!

Chronic bronchitis is defined clinically as a productive cough for 3 consecutive months for 2 consecutive years. If this is you, you may have chronic bronchitis.

In chronic bronchitis, there is inflammation and swelling of the lining of the airways that lead to narrowing and obstruction of the airways. The inflammation stimulates production of mucous (sputum), which can cause further obstruction of the airways

Probably not if it is once a year. I guess it depends on how long it lasts. Stay away from all of those smoker friends of yours.
