Hep C is sexually transmitted. And he can give it to someone else.

Actually a lot of recent data hasn't shown much of an ability to transmit Hep C sexually. Many spouses have been tracked over a 20 year period, one being Hep C positive and the other remaining Hep C negative, while having a normal sex life without protection.

This isn't conclusive, IMO, but it does shine some doubt as to transmissibility without blood contact.

Hepatitis is not ONLY transmitted sexually, but by ANY BODY FLUID!!!!!!! It could be transmitted by contact with someone's saliva, nasal discharge, vaginal discharge,,,ANY BODY FLUID.
Hepatitis is much easier to contract than the AIDS virus.

Recently, in the news in Illinois, there was a restaurant (Houlihan's) that had an employee(a cook) who had active Hepatitis and continued working. Everyone who ate at the restaurant for the week that he worked was advised to go thru the Hepatitis series of shots. That's alot of people eating at a restaurant in one week! Small children included.

So, he could have contracted it from a number of sources...
Make sure to follow thru with the course of treatment the doctor recommends. Don't want any permanent or longterm health damage.

Actually, hepatitis C is spread only by blood, not other blody fluids.

The most common ways of becoming infected are by using needles for drug use, or sharing equipment for drug use, like tie offs, straws, etc.

You can also get it from using previously used needles or ink when getting a tattoo or pieircings.

Health care workers can also become infected from needle sticks.

The CDC has some great info on the different hepatitis viruses.

It is not spread via casual contact, such as hugging or kissing. It is very rarely spread thru sex.
