Sigh~

Yes! Cold sores ARE herpes. The only way to know if you have herpes type 1 or two is to have the sore cultured or have a blood test done. And YES you can have herpies type in 1 either location, just as you can have herpes type two in either location. You cannot be sure it is type 1 just because it is on your lip. It is more likey that form, but it is not 100% accurate.

If you perform oral sex on someone else, you can spread it to their genitals. Now they have an STD. Did it change form and become an STD? No. It is the exact same virus you have, it is just located in another location. People just make themselves feel better by calling it a "cold sore" when it is on your lip. It is still herpes no matter what you call it.

This virus stays with you for the rest of your life. Even if you do not have a sore, if you do indeed have herpes, you can spread it at any time.

It does take time for the virus to be picked up by blood test. For most it can show within 4 months, but some do take longer. Just because you were negative a few months ago, does not mean you do not have it now. To be sure, get tested again in about 4 months.

Cold sores are caused by the Herpes virus so you could have HSV-1 but not the genital version which you were most likely tested for.

Be careful though...it can be passed from a cold sore to the genitals through oral sex or by coming into contact with the sore and then touching genitals.

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about four years back, whilst I was still attending college and had a silly one-night stand. I realize lots of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/kHiiu everything improved.

Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system gave me back the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

You have the herpes 1 virus. This differs from the herpes 2 virus which is genital herpes. Don't fret, many people carry the 1 virus and occasionally have a minor outbreak (cold sore). Just don't kiss another person nor engage in oral sex with a cold sore. You can transmit to them and cause genital herpes.

A a cold sore is an outbreak of the herpes simplex virus (HSV1). It is estimated that over 90% of Americans carry the virus, but only about 30% of those have cold sore outbreaks.

Cold sore treatment options vary widely. There is prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, and home remedies for cold sores - many of which work remarkably well.

Here are some links to a site that helped me with my own cold sore problems. Since I used some of the methods outlined here, I haven't had a problem.

This is a link to the “Ultimate Cold Sore Treatments Guide” that outlines a bunch of cold sore remedies that work, both medicinal and home treatments:

This link is an entire glossary listing all of the best cold sore treatments compiled on to one web page:

Finally, this link is to the one medication that is proven to heal cold sores faster than anything else on the market:

That site is updated pretty regularly. Hope this helps!

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus so yes you have herpes. Do not kiss anyone, do not share eating and drinking utensils etc. Also anytime your hands are near your face wash them well with soap and water.

I REALLY wanted you to know that you can EASILY never have to deal with another horrible, awful, nasty cold-sore for the rest of your life!!

I got them every winter my whole life until 3 years ago (I'm 36 now) and they were the BANE of my existence...the whole process took weeks to heal and would leave a scar for at least 2 months sometimes!

I was reading a message board on www.curezone.org and discovered the PERFECT remedy for both healing them and preventing them completely:
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

So, I buy the liquid tincture by "HerbPharm" and it has not failed me ONCE...Whenever I'm feeling drained, tired, stressed, or get that tingly feeling on my lip, I just load up on this stuff.

This is the one I buy:

http://www.nextag.com/Herb-Pharm-Olive-Leaf-66659849/prices-html

You can also get Olive Leaf at Whole Foods Market, and other natural food stores.

Very cheap.

The first time I tried it, I was actually halfway into a major eruption and I drank a bunch of the extract in some water.
AS I WAS DRINKING the stuff down, I could feel the swelling on my lip shrinking...I was in such shock--I ran to the mirror--it was shrinking before my eyes and within ten minutes my lip had returned to NORMAL...I began kissing the bottle of Olive Leaf...yeah, I really did!!

I had tried everything in the past...I can't begin to tell you what I went through...and it's now been 3 YEARS since I've had one!

I've been in the Alternative Medicine field for some time now, and offer individualized consultations:

Did you just have a cold because after having a cold alot of people get fever blisters and they look like cold sores try putting ear wax on it to dry it out and start using carmex lip balm with the yellow cap.

herpes down below and a cold sore are the same thing but different. No you don't have the std....my 12 year old gets cold sores but she doesn't have any std's.

There's a link for you. It's a kids link but sometimes they are easier to understand than the adult ones.

all reoccuring open sores are herpes. and guess what so is chicken pox so technically speaking everyone has herpes pretty much. but yes you can transfer herpes simplex from genitals to mouth and vice versa plus condoms are not 100% at keeping you safe from herpes. go see a doctor during an outbreak for them to be accurate about a diag.
