I recently posted a topic about a bad experience I had at a restaurant involving a vegan who spit on my food because I ordered a lobster. I was at the restaurant with my family, I was rewarding my kids for a job well done in their home studies. My wife home schools our kids.

To make a long story short, I posted about the experience on Yahoo! and a poster by the name of panicfan4peace replied with "...was it worth torturing and killing an animal by boiling it alive just so you could feed your fat face".

In summary, "panicfan4peace" supported the actions of this waiter who spit in my food.

The question I have is this. Is it right for people to support these hate crimes carried out by vegans?

I would like the name of the restaurant and city in which it is located, so I could check your story out.

The question is: Is it right for you to spread stories about vegans simply because you disagree with the philosophy?

People check his history and do not buy into his crap.

Veganism is the only way out of the Armed Services other than a physical or mental handicap, if the draft is in effect. Why, because they have shown that they are not violent and would refuse to harm another creature.

With the lobster already dead, the vegan would at least something good to come from that and allow the person to eat it, rather the letting the life of the lobster be killed for nothing.

So foxhunter, if you are so distraught over this incident share with us the name of the restaurant, so we can be sure to never eat there and support an extablishment that would even hire an arrogant vegan.

I would like to point out that the 'vegan fad' does not exist. For people like us this is a way of life - we dont see the pleasure in torturing animals as a reward! Its also a very difficult way of life at times when people frown on you or think your strange or indeed tell you its a fad!

Yes, vegans are starting to fight back more, but look at this way - if it was your pet on the plate, how would you feel??? would you still boil it alive? probably not. so why is it ok for you to do this to another animal. We are not god and we have no right to decide who dies or take anothers life.

Maybe you should look at a few videos on www.animalaid.com and then decide when your tucking into your burger that what you is doing is justifed.

Oh please! This story does not add up.

Fox Hunter says the waiter was vegan. What? Did he introduce himself, "Hi, my name is Sam, I'll be you waiter for this evening and, just in case you were wondering, yes, I am vegan.” Or perhaps it was that green armband that all vegans must wear to identify themselves lest meat-eaters become contaminated that gave it away?

How does FHG know the waiter spat in his food? The waiter would have to have done this on the the restaurant floor in order to be seen by FHG, in full view of everyone, causing him to be fired on the spot! Or does FHG have some special privileges that allow him to come & go through restaurant kitchens & mingle ‘behind-the-scenes’ as he pleases?

As an aside, boiling a lobster alive is not the only way – a knife can be inserted into the spine, severing the spinal-cord (if done skilfully) immediately killing the creature, relatively painlessly.

I don't agree with the waiter spitting in your food. If that really even happened. I don't believe you one bit. I was just explaining what the waiter might have meant.

"He commented that the lobster was boiled alive and he hoped it was worth it? I have no idea what he meant by that, but he said it in a rude tone of voice."

What is your problem with vegans and vegetarians? Why all the stupid questions and ball busting? I am not a vegan or vegetarian myself, but I do agree with it, and wish I had the willpower to stay away from meat. I think your just a fox hunting redneck who likes to mess with people. Go ahead and report me to Yahoo, or some other internet watchdog group. DICK!

Report the restaurant if that really happened because even you don't deserve that - it is unhygienic and against all health and safety laws. If a waiter is a vegan what is he doing cooking and serving meat to omnivores for a living?

On the other hand this is you Foxie and you claim to live in a predominantly vegan town just give me a hint- which County or province even just say Munster, Lenister or Connaught and I will look up this Eiran Veganville heaven!!!

I seriously doubt that happened to you. If someone were to read through all your "experiences" with vegans that you have listed through your questions, it would seem as though every vegan in the world has personally attacked you at some point. Lobsters are boiled alive and that sucks. Imagine being boiled alive. Quit picking on the vegans and maybe they'll quit picking on you.

i guess it would depend on whether or not a lobster suffers when it is boiled. That is a question I am not sure about. If it did suffer intensely when it was boiled, then it is hard to really have much sympathy for you. Because in essence you did pay somebody to boil an animal alive (causing it to suffer immensely) simply because you like the taste of lobster.

If lobsters are not capable of feeling pain, then you didn't really do anything wrong, and he was acting unjustly and on faulty information.

There's nothing right about someone spitting in your food for any reason. Spitting in your face can be considered assault. Spitting in your food is no different than stealing money from you, since you need to pay for the food anyway. Additionally, it could be harmful if the wacko who did it has a disease or illness.

Let me just say though that the same kind of person who would seek to harm a person because they don't agree with the food they order is unreasonable to say the least. Likely, they'd be the same kind of person who would have a 'save the whales' bumper sticker on the same car that also sports an 'abortion rights' decal. Go figure-animals are more important than humans in some eyes. This type of stuff is real easy to proclaim, up until risking their own life or comfort comes into the picture. If animals are more important, give up your day job and go join Greenpeace.

Don't you love Vegans who will wear makeup or use hand soap, laundry soap and hair products that were tested extensively on animals? Amazing. And people complain religions are full of contradictions....

We all have a right to our opinions, which is one of the reasons why the US is so great.

However, judgement and actions are fall-outs from such a great thing. Politics, Religion, Sex...these are all things that people feel like their opinions and beliefs are the only ones that exist. Unfortunately, your experience was not only tacky at the restaurant, but the comment on Yahoo Answers was as well. Here, the forum is safe as true identity is covered up.

Although, I do have to say that the fact that you bring it up here and put the person's ID is just playing into the BS out of it all. Chalk all this up to immaturity, and laugh at how lame the restaurant person was and the yahoo member.

i would have not tipped the waiter for spitting in your food and left the restaurant, without paying. i would also contact the enviromental health team to let them know so they could possibly close down this place, unfortunately their are crazy people out there, not all act this way, you could have reported abuse on this person by using the little blue flag. if the person feels it right due to there beliefs then it is right, but not everyone has the same opinion.
