I am female and have been weighing the options of who and how to tell my past partners. So the thing is that i can probably fiind like 90% of them maybe 2 i wont find. But heres the thing, of all the guys i was with they all have gf;s now and probably for the last like 4 years. I have had it for sure for sure since jan 2005. Granted i was with my husband at the time i still am not completely sure when i actually got this. It could have been before husband came into the picture in 2004. So my problem is....do i tell everyone what i have and let them know what is going on?? Its just a tricky question cause i am the one effected by it, but the other guys i was with may be carrying it right now right? I believe it was said that guys can carry it but may never know right? So of course that brings up my next problem of thier gf's. What happens if i just infected all the guys+all their gf's if i did infact have it before husband in 04? Plus advice from females in this position would be great

Yes guys can and do carry HPV and most of them don't realize it. Since there is NO test for guys, they usually find out they have it by either developing genital warts or by their girlfriend or wife finding out they have contracted it (from the guy of course).

Letting your ex's know would probably be a really nice thing to do, but it is completely up to you. If one of your ex's did contract HPV from you, they probably have no idea they have it and might spread it to one of their girlfriend (if they haven't already).

It's completely up to you what you want to do. Good luck!

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

You are being very responsible to consider not only your partners but also their sexual partners. One of them may have given this to you after all, so it should not be about embarassment or guilt, but about being medically responsible.

Should you know who their doctors are you may be able to send a confidential or even anonymous letter to them about your ex's possible exposure. Some places, the public health officers will notify those possibly exposed to STD's. And they will often help locate the missing.

If some of them act stupid when you tell them, ignore it and continue to be the adult. Your concern could save a great deal of suffering and even prevent deaths. Currently by age 50 80% of us have this cancer-related virus, so don't worry so much about got it from whom.

It's very possible that your husband gave it to you. I might feel the responsibility to tell my last boyfriend prior to my husband, but don't go back through the line. It will cause more pain than benefit. HPV is out there and people need to get tested and take precautions because it's out there and anyone could have it. They have a responsibility to look after themselves.

yes you should tell them because that's what a responsible young lady will do. why were you even having sex with these people if you knew you were positive for hpv? i think you are spiteful and ungrateful.put yourself in their positions. that's something that a person may go bazerk about.

This is a hard subject, but yes the responsible thing to do now is tell the people you have been with so they can make the decision to get tested, you could be saving people life's. We as a nation have to be more sexually responsible so that we stop passing viruses and disease. Please do the right thing.

Doctors can now test for 35 hpv strains

"We can now test men and women for 35 different subtypes of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) including high risk oncogenic subtypes. The tests use DNA and mRNA detection techniques."

the right thing to do would be to tell them.
you could talk to a doctor or family planning clinic to get information about transmission of STD's.
