Hey- just had a doctor tell me I have herpes after looking at my vagina but there aren't any blisters or anything like that, it's just red and painful. Haven't gotten a herpes test either (getting one tomorrow).

Is there anyone out there with herpes who would be willing to tell me how it started for them? I'm scared shitless.

Thanks.

I was diagnosed 6 years ago with genital herpes. I had several blisters on my vagina that were EXTREMELY painful. My doctor looked at the sores, took a fluid sample, and gave me a pap smear. It was so painful I started crying!

About 6 months ago I had a blood test done and it confirmed that I had genital herpes cause by herpes simplex virus 1.

Don't worry, it sounds really bad and everyone makes a huge deal out of it but trust me, you'll be fine! Everyone is shocked when they are first diagnosed, but I've been living with it for 6 years now and I can tell you it's not that bad! It's one of the last things on my mind; I hardly ever think about it.

Good luck to you!

I myself was just diagnosed with herpes this month. I was ina lot of pain and had just a few bumps down there, I thought they were from shaving.

They did a swab of the sores, a pap smear and blood work as well.

I was put on Valtrex to help make them go away faster. I have to be very careful, due to the fact that I am pregnant and I guess herpes can cause blindness if you have an outbreak during delivery.

It has been hard for me to deal with and I had no idea how to tell my partner, but its something that you just have to learn to live with.

Best of luck to you

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?

But after a friend share this video everything has changed.
