ok - don't panic! You are at high risk of diabetes, but all the above steps mean that you're doing everything you can to prevent it. The best things you are already doing - cutting down sugar and increasing exersise. Try to watch the non-sugar carbs like pitza and pasta too but you can't cut everything out of your diet completely! Try reducing portion size and filling up the rest with salad (which is carb - free when undressed). The occasional choc sundae etc. won't have an effect as long as it is occasional. Speak to your gp and see if you can get tested every 6 months or so so that you know about it early if you do get diabetes. Try not to worry too much - you might never get it, and if you do it's not necessarily your fault - esp. if you had gestational diabetes as (like type 1 diabetes) this has nothing to do with life style, and it does increase your risk of getting diabetes in the future. Either way, what you're doing sounds great, and if you are diagnosed early and take treatment seriously then you will greatly reduce your risk of complications like amputations. You should speak to a good dr for some advise and support - because diabetes is a specialist subject not all gps know much about it - if you're not satisfied with what a dr says then make a new appointment with someone different.
Hope that helps, good luck xx

Salam. Yes you are. Gestational diabetes makes you twice as likely to develop diabetes later on in life. Your family history is also an indicator. I am the 4th generation in my mother's family to develop diabetes, and I was the youngest of them all and required insulin the soonest. Your weight is another factor that, when combined with everything else, makes you a much higher risk. Unfortunately your diet is not helping either.. I am so sorry to be the bearer of such bad news... I have been there. If you want to postpone the onset of diabetes, you need to make some really big changes in your life. To start, see your doctor and have some blood work done, as you may be in a pre-diabetic stage and simply do not know it yet. Talk to him about a diet plan that is practical for you, and exercises that you can do.There are many simple and small things you can change in your life that will make a huge difference.
Please feel free to email me. There are many things I can suggest to you, but I don't want to make this answer any longer. You can find the link of my profile.

Well you are making some of the correct choices. I don't think you have your food choices together yet. Any chance of you seeing a dietitian or take a diabetic eating class? It is not just the "fizzy" drinks, but any drink that is sweet, including orange juice and apple juice, has too much sugar. Read the label. If it has 100 calories, it would take a one mile walk to use them up. If you want something sweet, eat an apple or 1/2 banana. French frys and chocolate Sundays are very bad for you.
Slowly start to get into better shape with walking. Try to work yourself up to an hour a day. Even if it is four 15 minute segments. You should walk fast enough to be slightly out of breath, but still be able to talk.
Check out some diabetic web sites.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

The best thing to do is go and see a doctor for a sugar test. This is really good way of seeing how your body is dealing with the sugar and insulin output. You say your approaching 40 whih means you could be nearing menopause which will play havoc on your hormones. I have a insulin problem that I am preventing with acuptuncture and chinese herbalism as I started to go through menopause at 17. I was never a big junk food eater or dined out on anything less than salad, veg small amounts of meat and salad yet I was classed as obese. Because I have identified the problem I have delayed the onsets of diabetes that my doctor was concerned about and I am turning my body around. Good luck.

you may have a family history to keep in mind. Start to use artificial sweetner now and get a carb counter book. Limit the pasta and olive oil. Use canola oil instead. (better for heart, cholesterol, diabeties) If you are overweight start exercise soon. Make sure you walk every day and drink a lot of water. Get a check up from a doctor and let them test. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, over weight, all can lead to diabetes.

If you are dedicated to taking off those extra pounds that will help you tremendously. As for the role genetics play, it's anybody's guess if you will become a diabetic or not.

I think you can change or delay your fate by doing two things. The first thing is walking. I had a friend who was pre-diabetic. She started walking one holiday for 45 mins. She walked everyday 45 mins. to 1 hour for one year. At one year she had lost all her weight. Over 100 pounds. She then began running 25 mins. in the mornings before work. She no longer needed to take diabetic med. or B/P meds. The other thing I would suggest that you take 3 TB of extra virgin coconut oil each day. 2TB before your breakfast and 1TB 30 mins before your lunch. The best coconut oil is made by Garden for Life. I buy it at Vitacost.com.

The best way to prevent the onset of diabetes is to not be overweight. Try to increase your exercise by doing things like walking more. Also, make sure you are eating enough protien and eating requently through out the day.
