A simple answer is no. Hypertension rarely kills anyone. The effects of hypertension combined with other diseases usually found in a person with hypertension can kill you.
If you are otherwise normal, hypertension (high blood pressure) that is being treated by a doctor will not hurt you. The exception here is a period called a hypertensive crisis, where blood pressure is at or above 190/140 and just shot up there without being like that before. This is an emergency and you must go to a hospital to have yourself evaluated for organ damage.

Yes, you can have high blood pressure even though your cholesterol and triglycerides are normal.
Uncontrolled high blood pressure can damage your organs including, but not limited to, sight, heart, kidneys etc.

Your high chol or tryg causes high blood pressure by clogging arteries and making your heart work harder to pump blood through. To anser your question those blockages can also be caused by calcium deposits and or blood clots causing high blood pressure and causing heart attack or stroke(brain blockage) and die.
