Trichomoniasis is a very simple infection. All your friend needs to do is to take her medication, and it will go away in a few days.

Trich is usually sexually transmitted. It can live on damp linens for a little bit, but it cannot live on places like toilet seats. Wash bath towels and underwear in HOT water, and tumble dry.

Don't treat your friend like a leper. You should not share bath towels or underwear with her. But geez! You don't need to lock her up, and you don't have to sterilize everything she touches. Your family is not in any horrible danger of getting infected with trich (unless they are sexually abusing your friend, which is obviously not ok). Be nice to your friend. It seems your overreaction to her diagnosis will make her feel really ashamed and possibly resentful towards you.

Trich is common. In many parts of the world (but not the US), you can buy trich medication without a prescription.

btw, viruses are NOT protozoans. Protozoans are tiny one-celled organisms that are more complex than bacteria. Read a middle school-level life science book for more information on the difference between protists, bacteria and viruses.
