254 is high whether you were drinking/eating sugar or not. one blood sugar test cannot diagnose diabetes. you should watch for symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, and other high blood sugar symptoms. if you feel concerned i advise you should check with your dr.

Your blood sugar does not change that quickly, so I would have to say it was not because of the Orange Coke. You have high sugar and need to get it checked. Normal range is between 80 and 120...but 254 is way too high.
Good luck.

In non-diabetic people, their sugar would never reach 254, even with a sugary drink. I am sorry, but you really need to see a doctor asap and have some blood work done. He/she can help you decide how to treat your sugar issues, and give you advice on how to change your lifestyle.
Diabetes is in my family too, I am the 4th generation of women on my mother's side to develop it. I didn't actually know that until I was diagnosed and my mother told me. I made her visit the doctor immediately, and that is when she discovered she has it too... Luckily my mother can control hers easily with diet, exercise and pills. I did well for a few years but slowly it became impossible to control and I use insulin now.
Please take care of yourself; and email me if you would like. You can find the link on my profile.

If it runs through your family, you should be getting checked for it at least once a year. While soda can raise the sugar, 254 sounds excessive. When I went for my glucose test while I was pregnant, I mistakenly ate breakfast--pancakes,--and it came back completely normal. Pancakes would make it go up a lot higher than soda. You really do need to see a doctor!

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR FOR BLOOD WORK. DIABETIC RUN IN MY FAMILY TOO. YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL WAS UP BEFORE YOU DRANK THE COKE. IF YOU WANT TO CHECK IT AGAIN DO THIS. DON'T EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT CHECK YOUR BLOOD SUGAR THE NEXT MORNING AND SEE WHAT THE READING IS THEN. MOST GOOD LEVEL ARE BELOW 120 ANYTHING HIGHER IS NOT GOOD. IF YOU DO HAVE HAVE DIABETES TRY CHANGE YOUR DIETS THAT MAY HELP NO SUGAR ITEMS OR FRY FOODS. BUT GO TO YOUR DOCTORS FOR THE BLOOD WORK.

do it asap so if you do have it, its better to find out now then later!!!

It would not hurt to get your sugar tested and why does your grandma have sugar pop at her house
You should switch from sugar soda to diet or start drinking water and go see a doctor you could be boderline and with a switch in a few things you could keep yourself off insulin go get it checked and talk to a nutrionist

you have a diabetic gen. normally if you are fasting your blood sugar <126 mg/dl and your blood sugar post prandial(after you eat) <200mg/dl.according your story, yes you got high blood sugar.but to diagnose as diabetes there so many sign you should check.are you always feel thirsty?and you often take a pee in night (poliuri)?do you feel hungry everytime, you eat, but you loose your weight?
diabetes has 2 tipe.dependent insulin and non dependent insulin.the first usually happpen at juvenile (young), it`s genetic and you can`t live without insulin.the last happen to old people, because they have lake of reseptor or they don`t have enough insulin, they have bad lifestyle.
you should check.do you have bad lifestyle (junk food, full calories diet)?do you have obesity and lack of activity?prevent diabetes with healthy lifestyle...

DIABETES--DEFINITION
Diabetes mellitus is impaired insulin secretion by the pancreas and variable degrees of peripheral insulin resistance leading to hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). Early symptoms are related to hyperglycemia and include polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyphagia (excessive hunger and abnormally large intake of solids by mouth), and polyuria (excessive urination). Later complications include vascular disease, peripheral neuropathy, and predisposition to infection. Diagnosis is by measuring plasma glucose (blood sugar). Treatment is diet, exercise, and drugs that reduce glucose levels, including insulin and oral antihyperglycemic drugs. Prognosis varies with degree of glucose control.
Hyperglycemia is high blood glucose. Symptoms are--
Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Extreme hunger
Unusual weight loss
Increased fatigue
Irritability
Blurry vision
Hypoglycemia is low blood glucose. Symptoms are--
Sweating and palpitations
Pale skin
Hunger - to the extreme
Trembling
Irritability
Anxiety/aggression
Poor concentration
Feelings of faintness/dizziness
Loss of consciousness
Death
Normal blood glucose ranges from 70-110. Anything below 70...hypo..anything above 110..hyper.
In the US, about 90% of diabetics are type II and 10% are type I.
According to recent studies conducted by the Pritikin Longevity Center, diabetes starts from too much fat in the diet and insufficient exercise, not malfunction of the pancreas as previously thought. The pancreas continues to produce insulin when you have diabetes but the body becomes insulin resistant. Research has shown that over 90% of diabetes cases can be TOTALLY CORRECTED with diet and exercise. That means that you don't have to have limbs removed due to diabetes-induced gangrene. You don't have to go blind or suffer cardiovascular abnormalities because of diabetes. You can actually REVERSE some of these conditions with diet (nutrition, not weight loss) and exercise, and the removal of parasites and candida.
Watch the 8-minute non-profit video http://www.rawfor30days.com/view.html , about diabetes diet.
Best of luck.
