That's normal. Your body is detoxing itself, the longer you smoked, the longer it takes to heal. It takes about ten years for your lungs to really recover from smoking more than 5 years, not casual smoking either, every day smoking.

The wheezing and shortness of breath are still related to smoking.you could have stopped 20 yrs, ago and still have these symtoms.Have yourself checked for asthma, bronchitis or cpod..the wheezing, coughing and roughness in voice will be with you for yr's. to come.that does not go away quickly.
Congradulations for quitting smoking, that was a BIG step forward for your life...
good luck>>>

Please see your dr. asap, it could be a bad cold, or bronchitis, etc. I don't know what part of the country you are in, but if you've been out in the cold, that could cause some problems. Personally, I truly want to say to you, thank you very much for quitting smoking. I am VERY proud of you for doing that. Why? Because I have lost my father, my only aunt, my mom's cousin, and my ex sister-in-law due to cancer/heart attack/emphysema/because they smoked for so many years. Please, keep up the great job of not smoking! Take care.

You may have a virus or infection unrelated to your stopping of smoking.
If it gets worse, go to ER. Otherwise, see your doctor tomorrow.
