I already have a chihuahua. so im looking for somthing a little bit different. like a maltipoo for example. but i dont insist on getting a maltipoo. i need a dog thats very smart, a good companion, and absolutly adorable! if you dont know any can you give me a website to go looking for one. all i need is a starter. thanks

I adopted a 9 year old yorkie from a shelter and he was amazing!! Totally smart and with a great personality. Much better personality than my champion bred cocker spaniel.
Sometimes you see small dogs in shelters-- but they get adopted very quickly so you have to be alert. You won't often see purebreds (except purebred chihuahuas sometimes), but the little 8 lb mix terriers are cute anyway! Plus you know how big they would be because they are already adults.
There is an adorable mix pug and chihuahua in my area that I would love to adopt, but I'm not ready for another dog.
Or if you are set on a purebred, you could contact a specialty organization like Maltese rescue.
Go to petfinder.org... and search small dogs. Sometimes real cuties come up....

Firstly please don't by a cross breed, they are usually bred for money, also anything with the name 'teacup' is also one bred for money and you need to avoid these types of breeders. If you want another small breed that is different to your chihuahua then a maltese or a pomeranian. However, both will require a good deal of grooming. Toy poodles are small but again more grooming required.
Please avoid any breeder who doesn't health test their breeding stock. Once you have decided on a breed then find out the relevant breed club and they will put you in touch with a reputable breeder!

No, go with a King Charles Cockerspaniel
This dog breed's name is much bigger than the dogs themselves :) The Cavalier King Charles Cocker spaner is another lap dog, toy dog, you get the general idea. Adorably cute, these miniature cocker spaniels love being around people and when trained are also very well behaved. These dogs have an even temperment and are fairly calm. Their coat requires regular brushing and their exercise requirements are minimal.

miniature poodles...they are very smart, and quick to pick up things..I have two and they are adorable! They don't shed, and I don't get them trimmed like a poodle b/c I that. So they look like a little fluffy dog!

well, maltese's are really cute, but there are a lot more. For something small, i would definetely recommend a yorkie (yorkshire terrier). the one that i would HIGHLY recommend is a cavalier king charles spaniel.
