LOL It's not just old pitbulls. My brother's pit does the same (only she plays). My English Setter is the same. They are stalking - just like a lion would.
They lay in wait, wait till the right time then getchya!

because they are the most worthless dogs god could have created. i think they should be banned period. my neighbor has one and if i ever catch the dog in my yard and i have two kids i will put something in him he wont regret. everybody says pitbulls get a bad rep, but they dont, they are what they are. i have two akitas, get one they are just as good of watch dogs and they dont bite or bark. or is the cost of an akita why pitbull owners have pitbulls and akita owners have akitas.

Because they want to make sure it's you. Being old, the eyes are not focused until "you get right on them".
