For those of you who selected "No" and "Christian," this is what the bible says

Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Those who heard this asked, "Who then can be saved?"

Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

luke 18:25-28

Jesus is saying that is is possible for a rich man to go to heaven...so if it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, wouldnt that also be possible, since it's easier?

In ancient times, most cities were walled. For travellers coming in at night, there was a small gate in the wall called "the needle's eye". A camel would have to be completely unpacked from all its burdens to enter it. That was the point of the parable.

Yes, but it would be very difficult. When the city gates were locked, late coming merchants could enter in a narrow opening call the needles eye, but the camel would have to kneel down and scoot in, it was very difficult, and in some cases impossible. In order to be protected, they needed inside the gates for the night.

It can be done, but tit is very difficult. The eye of the needle talked about in scripture, is a doorway cut out of the main gate into a city, and it is made so men could go in and out without having to open the main gate. A camel can get through, but it is very tight, and they do not go willingly.

Christian, no, its a Jewish joke. Actually it is a good illustration too. Imagine a camel trying to squeeze into a needle because of all the "baggage" they have? In the same way, rich people tend to have lots of "things" they want to take with them but it keeps them from fitting.
