i can't answer your 1st part soz but...
greenhouse gases such as CO2 and methane prevent some heat from escaping earth. there's always heat escaping, but the level of greenhouse gases determine how much gets kept behind. Therefore more CO2, more heat kept warming up our earth.

Additional info: A volume of mathane is forty times more powerful at this than a similar volume of CO2. Scary huh!

So-called greenhouse gases allow much of the sun's radiation to reach the earth and warm it up. Because the earth is relatively cold (compared with the sun) it emits radiation of much longer wavelength. This longer wavelength radiation is absorbed by the greenhouse gases, which warms the atmosphere. Greenhouse gasses also emit long wavelength radiation both to space and to the earth - that hitting the earth contributes to even more warming.

CO2 is removed by plants through photosynthesis ,the plants have done a great job.Mother nature has been recycling our air for millions of years. So the huge amount of CO2 is not there.
Methane is a joke where did they get these numbers. Methane is a very light gas and goes very high in the atmosphere, how did the environmentalist measure that??? I cannot find this huge lake of methane that is high in the atmosphere ,and they didn't either. Methane is very explosive and if there were a large lake of methane up there there would of been a huge explosion when we launched the first missile through it.

IT ABSORBS HEAT
Since it absorbs heat it causes alot of heat to be traped in the atmosphere hence global warming occurs
