My daughter is 9 years old and has had strep twice in the last two months. She had her tonsils taken out a couple of years ago for this reason. She has had a low grade fever for atleast a month. She is tired and isnt eating well. I took her to the doctor because of a swollen, painful lymph node under the right side of her jaw closest to her ear. He stated its just that her little system has been working overtime, with her having strep twice in two months and now she has bronchitis. Does that make sense or do you think that he is just guessing?????? Please help!!!!

It is true that after an infection swollen lymph nodes can take some time to resolve, however the ongoing low grade fever and her fatigue do deserve further evaluation. I would think at the very least some blood work to check her blood count, a mono test and a repeat throat culture to confirm that the strep has resolved. You could take her to another doctor or consider an ENT (ear nose and throat) specialist if you are not happy with the current doctor's advice. Or, you may just want to honestly discuss your concerns with your doctor and they may order further tests.

i hope you dont think this is crazy but ,,, her spine in her neck maybe out of place ,,and it causes inflamation then onset sickness ,, i know this very very well with experience and can cause fever,, because the spine is dislocated in the neck it causes much pressure then swelling,, have you tried useing hot washcloths on her face for a treatment ?when the spine is out of place it does not have good circulation in those general areas also try lymph drainage programs they are available at some of the massage therepists ,,, or look it up online,, my gland under my right ear is very big and hurts , and my massage therepist has told me about the lymph drainage program and how helpful it is ,,for the whole body and health

Take her to an ENT...if there is an infection in her sinuses and bacteria gets in there it can stay there and keep causing recurring infections. I had the same problem for 6 years...bronchitus, tonsilitus, sinus infections, severe headaches, etc. I saw an ENT who did surgery and feel great ever since.

He's right. It's working overtime fighting an infection.
Get another doctor.

Better see a doctor. lymph node means something is wrong with internal injury. it must be treated.

Yes, but those are also symptoms on Meningitis which is incredibly serious, even life threatening. Take her to the doctor!
