Sounds like you need antibiotics - see your dentist asap. Take nurofen for the pain in the meantime.

Its an absess, an infection at the top of the tooth that will go away on its own, but will keep coming back until sorted out by the dentist. I had one, not liking dentists too much I tried to sort it with clove oil, whiskey (enjoyable but didn't last!). It got so bad I couldn't endure the cold wind on my cheeks, or even eat soup, so I had to sort it.
In the end, I went to the dentist, he gave me antibiotics and sent me away for a week. When I went back, he drilled out the middle and filled it with a bit of clove oil filling at the top, then normal filling. It didn't feel anything at all, as the antibiotics and infection had killed the nerve.
That was about 5 years ago now, not had any jip from it since! I would highly recommend going to the dentist with it!

Go see a Dentist, I had some swelling in a gum and it was an abscessed tooth. I had to take anti-biotics and then get a root canal, but I saved the tooth. Plus you can get VERY sick if this is allowed to go on, it's worth the headache and pain in the pocketbook to get this fixed, seriously...

as a person who suffers from lots of trouble with my gumsw and teeth owing to my diabetas, i have had many bouts of swelling and puss leakage when touched etc. you have to see a dentist and he will give you some antibiotics, usually it will be AMOXCYLLIN. which i swear by and depending on the strength and dosage it is very quick working, but alas nine times out of ten the tooth will probably be extracted.Sorry to give you the bad news.as i have a severe phobia with dentists, but with my problems i have to bite the bullet and have one or maybe two teeth extracted each year.At the moment i have only got nine teeth left but alas dentists will not take them all out for me and replace with falsies ha ha

You really need a doctor or dentist to tell you that. Get it checked. You may well need antibiotics and you can't buy those. Both doctors and dentists are able to prescribe them.
