I'm having problems with firefox and need to uninstall it (and then reinstall). I want to make sure that I don't lose my bookmarks and can import them once I get my new firefox working. What can I do to ensure that my bookmarks will be ready to transfer back over?

THANKS EVERYONE-I just uninstalled then reinstalled to the newest version-it automatically added all my bookmarks and tabs which is brilliant, didn't have to do a thing! Thanks again

I printed mine out and reentered them. I suppose you could paste them into a folder or on notepad and save it on your desktop. There is suppose to be an import export option but I've never gotten it to work????? You could open Internet Explorer and try to drag each favorite into the browser one by one and add it to the favorites on there. Just ideas, good luck.....

Go to your personal firefox folder usually under:
C:\Documents And Settings\(username)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(default folder)\bookmarks.html

This is your bookmarks file in firefox, you can copy it to another location and back it up.

Another way is going to your bookmarks menu in firefox, and select to Administer Your Bookmarks, on there go to the file menu and click on export. This will export your bookmarks to the location you specify.

When you're done reinstalling you could go to your bookmarks administration on firefox and in the file menu, select import, look for the file and firefox will import all your bookmarks from that file.

Hope this helps.

Jeff is right. I've done this several times. You need to save the bookmarks.html file (the one in the profiles folder--not the one in the programs folder) and then copy it back (replace the new one) after you reinstall firefox. Once you learn this, remember how you did it because it happens quite often with Firefox.
