Yes I like the onions with the beans as well. I do have to stay away from others for a while later though. Even would like to not be with me myself. Please do not strike a match.

What a great idea for a cold day! I adore corn bread and don't have the opportunity here in Switzerland to have it...I need a recipe! Enjoy....you have made me yearn for something I cannot get!

Down south, you must have cornbread with any bean dish or any soup dish - it's a way of life! If you don't know how to make homemade cornbread there is a great recipe on the bag of Martha White Cornmeal mix ( I always use the yellow cornmeal) or else use a box of Jiffy if you are in a rush. The most important thing to remember with cornbread is it must be cooked in a cast iron skillet using Crisco. Otherwise, you won't get the golden crust on the outside......

Yes, it is great for a cold or rainy day, but any meal with homemade cornbread is bound to be good.

Yes it is true that you can make cornbread without a cast iron skillet, but any TRUE southern girl wouldn't dream of making it in any other type pan.

Yes, I like beans and cornbread...chili and cb, chicken and cb...etc..
For fishfry's, it's definitely fried bread w/onions in the mix.

You can make it plain or add cheese, peppers, onions and/or bacon pieces.

Traditional method is in a cast iron skillet, but you don't have to use one. (if you have any cooking skills)

A good one for little ones (or anyone) is using baking cups. (same way you make cupcakes)

No matter the preference of pan you use...let cook until a nice golden brown.
