Why do Muslims take their religion more seriously than Christians?

I would see Christians sometimes where i grew up wearing head scarfs, women covering up , not eating pork or ever taking alcohol. Perhaps in the west though, Muslims and Christians when viewed together, you see Muslims appearing to take religion alot more serious. Praying 5+ times a day, religious diet, month of fasting, doing vast amounts of charity ect. Sometimes you may only see Christians goto church on one day a week. I've nothing against my Christians brothers and sisters, as we all come from the same species. Muslim, Christian , we should all treat each other fairly, and with respect

I'd be hard pressed to say that Muslims take their religion more seriously then Christians. Each religion has different goals and different belief systems. Hence - each one acomplishes their goals differently.

There are Christians all over the world in countries where Christianity, or any freedom of relgion is not allowed. They are imprisoned, tortured and even killed because they believe differently then what the government wants them to believe. I would say that they are taking their beliefs pretty seriously.

In Christianity - believers say that they know they are going to heaven. There is no uncertanity. In Islam - the only way to know for certain is to die for the faith. Otherwise, you won't know until you get there. I believe that this divergence is responsible for the different ways we see them practicing their faith. Which is not to say that all Muslims are terrorists, or all Christians are indifferent.

I am becoming very weary of the plague of sweeping generalizations around here. And, somehow, they always show up in the questions designed to irritate someone. Well, I guess they work.

I know Muslims who drink, smoke, and generally break every commandment of their religion. They aren't that hard to find.

I know Christians who are deeply committed to following Christ.

Consequently, I'd have to say "they don't".

... they don't. Muslims aren't the ones that have been warring on other people, torturing those that don't believe, persecuting those that don't believe, preaching their religion door to door or attempting to make their religion into law. Christians have done all of that. I'd call that alot more serious.
