To my experience when ever i boil a egg i boil it for atleast 7-10 ten minutes if it is in a vessel, that means only if u want to boil only eggs or an egg seperately. Please note that if you are boiling in a vessel that means in a cooking vessel donot close the lid. boil the eggs without closing the lid of the vessel.
Usually I boil it in the pressure cooker along with rice or along with some vegetables. if u want the perfect egg boiled or u dont want to take a risk in boiling it in a vessel then better go for boiling the eggs in a pressure cooker. mostly when we boil it in vessel the eggs may overcook means if the egg is boiled if comes out of the shell or else if its not properly boiled then the yolk of the egg is not appropriately boiled.so my experience says that it is best to go for a pressure to boil eggs or an egg.

Start with cold tap water in a pan and add your eggs. place on a stove and bring water to a boil. This is when you start timing. For a soft boiled egg ..... 3 minutes. Flush with cold water to allow handling. The eggs should be very warm to the touch. Serve immediately. Please note the 3 minute rule is for sea level.

4 minutes and you begin to approach full boiled egg - if they start from cool water and room temp eggs. 143 degrees F kills salmonella, 144 degrees F solidifies the whites, so it is a very close range to work in. The water that is boiling is at 212 degrees F (100C)

2 and a half minutes maximum.
Put the egg in water then bring to boil and start timing.
Don't matter if egg has been in the fridge or not.
