What is the "opposite" religion?
I have friends of different religions, if that's what you mean. Let's see, there are:
appx 30 Christians
appx 20 Bahai's
appx 7 Muslims
2 Buddhists
and the rest don't practice religion

What constitutes "the opposite religion"?
Never mind.
Let's define "friend" as someone I trust, and someone I see or talk to at least once a week. We'll use "any religion other than Christianity" for "the opposite religion". Then:
Muslim: 1
Jewish: about 20, scattered among reformed, orthodox, and other.
Pagan: 4. (If we relax the "once a week" thing, it goes up to about 10.)
Atheist (and active enough that I know it): 6 or so
Agnostic or other or I don't know what they are: all the rest, I guess.
Did you have a point to make?

There's no such thing as an opposite religion; but if you mean a different religion, I'd say about 80 % of my friends are something other than Episcopalian, and 50 % do not come from a Christian background.

Now I have you. I'm an atheist. This is actually an advantage as I have no religion to restrict me. So I have friends from you name it. I'm not young I'm 62 years old. I'm Greek I spent 17 years in the middle east and north Africa. I have traveled extensively as I dive for ancient wrecks. I have friends who are Christians( Orthodox, Catholic, Lutherans, Calvinists, Episcopalian, and a few more I can not remember right now.
Muslim( Sunni, Shiia, Druze-one of my best friends-, ahabites etc. A very close friend is Baha'i. Hindus. Too many and your point is???

More than I do that are of the same religion. I live in the US, it's impossible for this not to happen. My own mother is a Catholic. I really have no problem with it. I respect their beliefs, and they respect mine. One thing, though, is that my mother still likes to celebrate the Holidays, so I just go along with it. Islam says to respect your parents, and letting them have that holiday and those memories of you isn't harmful because God knows you are not worshipping a tree. Last year the theme was picture frames, and we ended up giving each other a couple of sets. This year it was Guardian Angels, and we were both laughing about it and saying that we must think alike.

Don't confuse friends with acquaintences.. Lets stop that question with .. How man friends do you really have? Then after you realize there is only you and one or two other people that are really really friends.. You probably realize that religion has been a settled thing between you long long ago and it don't matter to you.
