Ive got myself a bargain off Ebay. A New International version for only 50p, and like new. I can keep it to hand when im on here. I noticed however that people were more interested in the King James versions, yet the New International seems easier to understand without all that oldy worldy type of text.

I use them all. After studying the Bible for some years I find that accuracy is pretty good for just about all of them ( I would not want an Amplified or The Message for accuracy) . IF I was to really understand what was written in the Bible, I would get some commentarys and a concordance. There are Computer versions of these available, Theophilos 3 is a good user friendly one. It can get you started on the use of concordances and commentarys.

So yes, the New International Version is fine. The King James is my preferred Bible at times, but accuracy depends on where you look. I would do good with a New International Version.

I definitely love the New International Version, myself. There are a lot of people who ONLY believe in King James Version as being the Holy Word. However, I found out with many hours of study, that NIV was just as acceptable to God as KJV.

One thing , though. Most NIV are study bibles and have those small notes at the bottem of every page. Keep in mind that those notes are man-made and not devinely breathed as the Holy Word and there for can not be trusted as the Holy Spirit may lead you, personally, to have a different belief in a certain verse, than other people.

One more thing. If you don't want to read all the old world type, then there is also a "NEW KJV" which is trying to compete with the NIV.

Douay Rheims bible, first solid translations of the bible from the Latin to English completed in the previous the King James version. The NT replace into achieved at Rheims university in 1582, and the OT at Douay college in 1609, i've got confidence. that's direct from the Latin Vulgate by skill of people who spoke it natively of their common lives and have been expert translators vs. another translators who have been much less knowledgeable and allowed their own bias to creep in or misunderstood Latin because of the fact they did not natively communicate it. The version I certainly have is a 1941 version, with Notes, timelines, pictures, chronologies and an Encyclical from Pope Pius XIIth I now and returned use my NIV if i'll memorize or quote scripture to somebody else. i does not propose analyzing it except you're already ok versed in what the bible says. i in my opinion locate it much less annoying to determine then the KJV because it wasn't written interior the "previous english" dialect like the KJV, besides the fact that it predates it.

Yes King James Version is Best

Mankind is not to change or alter the Bible

The Bible is the Sword of Truth

King James was inspired by God

Mankind's versions are corrupted by whom knows who's interpretations, and should not be trusted.

Also the Holy Spirit will give you discernment to understand the KJV Bible if you are a child of God, and have been born again.

Let the Bible be True, and every man a liar

Bibles with the works of Westcott and Hort are the most accurate.

They were world renown greek scholars and translaters that lived in the 1800's.
Their works are not accepted by most churches.
Why?
Because their works do not back up most church doctrines and traditions.

The New World Translation is the most common Bible with those works

For casual reading and posting on here: NIV
For in-depth study: The Greek New Testament

Sadly my mastery of Greek does not allow me to casually read the Greek. It takes a couple minutes, especially if translating Paul, that may take a half-hour per verse.

I have a NIV as well, and I also preffer it. I have a New American Standard Bible as well. Nothing wrong with KJV though, imho. I like the language, but it's a small doses type thing.
