When my old gal wondered off it took me a week to locate her. The pound had her 3 days before she came to an area I could find her. I went every day when they opened looked every row and crate and just before closing....I went on a Saturday when she went missing...Monday Tuesday Wednesday..Wed morning I seen her..They said she had been there since Monday where had I been....Well..I was totally teed off...cause I know I was there and I had looked at every kennel and crate and the local pound and Humane Society Do not depend on a phone call...my dog was unique at the time a Blue Merle Australian Shepard should have been easy for them to pick out that they had her but they didn't so go look your self no matter what breed or mix breed. Take Pictures into all vets in the city where you live people contact them a lot about missing dogs. Put Fliers up around schools kids look for dogs to make some money..or if you know a teacher ask him or her to put a flier or 2 up at school for the kids to look at. Call the radio stations and cable stations sometimes run ads for missing pets. Check with the local Obedience clubs....those people will rescue dogs a lot of times. Good luck I know how bad you feel...I hope you get your dog back soon.

Hi
The first thing is to ring the ranger of the suburb he was lost in.

If he has been found some people do not register him straight away so keep on trying the local ranger. You need to also ring other shires as well. Get a photo of him and send to the vets in your area as some people take animals to the local vet.
Did he have a name or micro chip on him?
Advertise in the local paper asap and offer a reward. Walk the streets and ask the locals.
Fliers do work really well especially if you have a photo.
Advertise on dogs online as there are a lot of people who check the pounds constantly and if they know he is missing they will keep an eye out.
Some radio stations do advertise animals and do a search on the internet as there are heaps of sites you can put your dog on. I thing you should walk the area he was lost and knock on doors and call out at the top of your lungs and keep fingers crossed.
Good luck

If your dog has ever done this before-check that route, and keep going. I would check vets, shelters, newspapers, local "penneysavers" papers, keep doing the signs, and ask store owners if you could out them in or right outside the stores, and what I had to dofor two days was drive, drive, drive slowly and yell dogs names. Two of my three took off once and I was a literal mess. They had taken off after a deer I think. I finally found one, and one hour later the other about 5 miles from home. Since then I have gotten electric fence and had them microchipped. I was hysterical. I know how you feel. Don't give up!!! I'll say a prayer. Good Luck.

put the fliers in stores and at vet clinics also go for long walks you never know if you might just run into him..keep your head up .look in the parks down ally's check the most out of areas .was he fixed? he could smell a female for miles..my dog used to take off for miles and come back in a few days after he has had his fun ..lol...he used to drive me nuts..but keep the faith going that someone will find him ok i'll keep you in my prayers ok

Have you checked some of the local vets???? If your dog was injured someone may have taken him to get help at a vets office.

Keep your hopes up that someone has him all snug and warm and just hasn't seen your flyers yet.
The very best of luck!

call people where you think he might have run to

call local vets to see if he is there (hurt, or just waiting for you)

check with police to see if they picked him up or had to call animal control to pick him up

any farms near you? Dogs love to go to farms.

any ponds/lakes/water near you...perhaps he tried to swim or walk on ice

best of luck to you.
