they're not on ebay :/ i checked. and not like animal shelter websites cause they only sell BIG dogs...i want like babies like chihuahuas or something... :)

www.petfinder.com There are places to put what type of animal you are looking for (dog/cat/bird etc) the breed, male of female, age and size. That will narrow you search down. And go from there. That is how I found my 2 Shih-Tzu's...both are pure breeds. But you can get mixed breeds too. Check it out.

You’re better off just checking the classified ads of your local paper, really. That way, the breeder is sure to be geographically close to you, and you can check out the home and the parents before buying the puppy. If you buy a dog from a website, you don’t know what you’re getting.
If for some reason you don’t want to do that, go to any search engine and type “*TYPE OF BREED YOU’RE LOOKING FOR* breeders *YOUR STATE*” and you should get plenty of results. Ex: “Dachshund breeders Pennsylvania”
You really should decide on the breed in advance, since all breeds are not right for all people and you don‘t want to get a dog that is not right for you. Just “small breeds” isn’t really narrowing it down much.

If you want a well bred pup then you need to find a reputable breeder. These can be found either via the kennel club of your country or via a breed specific club. If you buy from a website then the chances are you are getting a puppy farmed/puppy mill dog and it will more than likely be unhealthy. Do a bit of research into your chosen breed and find yourself a good breeder.
