Dr Kendrick writes...Statins DO NOT protect against heart disease by lowering cholesterol...the protection provided by the taking of Statins is so small..as to be not worth bothering about...balanced with the side effects.

I've been taking Statins for several years.. and so are several members of my family (male and female) I would be interested in any professional views or suggested alternatives on the subject.

This guy is talking out of his ears!!!!!!!!

The evidence that statins reduce the incidence of heart attacks is both worldwide overwhelming and massive.

They are and have been massively successful in both primary and secondary prevention of heart disease.

From the first large study WOSCOPS performed in Scotland in 1995-conclusion : Treatment with pravastatin significantly reduced the incidence of myocardial infarction and death from cardiovascular causes without adversely affecting the risk of death from noncardiovascular causes in men with moderate hypercholesterolaemia and no history of myocardial infarction. Studies on larger and larger doses of statins more potent that pravastatin have continued to show more and more advantage.

Statins provide a cardiovascular and total mortality benefit for patients with clinically evident occlusive vascular disease (secondary prevention) and a cholesterol of >3.5 mM. http://www.ti.ubc.ca/pages/letter49.htm

I even have not experienced to any extent further than popular short term memory loss. My long term memory is basically discover. Now because of the fact of economic and no scientific i'm able to't arise with the money for to take that medicine. and nonetheless see no replace. I even have additionally heard on the information interior the final month or so as that the cholesterol drugs do no longer supply significantly any substantial cholesterol reducing purposes to warrant the taking of those drugs. And this is no longer a existence or dying undertaking. They experience this is basically a ruse via the pharmaceutical enterprise's to push those drugs on people as a fashion to make themselves greater funds. nutrition recurring and workout will do an identical element and greater valuable. and you will save the money on your pocketbook.

Sorry, first of all I am not a professional and secondly I have never heard of Statins - and nor have I heard of Dr Kendrick!

What I will say is that my mother had high cholestrol and so did her only sister. For that reason, I went to my GP to have my cholestrol level checked as I understood that it ran in families. The response from my doctor was truly enlightning!

The reason that high cholestrol tends to run in families is because they are likely to be reared on a similar diet. It has nothing to do with genetics. You are not likely to fall foul of the dreaded cholestrol just because other members of your family have! If you are close in age then the chances are that you were brought up on a similar diet. Take a look at that diet and see how high in cholestrol it was.

I would suggest that you and your family forget the Statins (whatever they may be) and just work out a healthy diet - and don't go for the cranky stuff, either!

My Mum did die from heart failure which was apparently brought on by a high level of cholestrol in her blood. Her sister suffered a number of strokes. But Mum was in her seventies and hadn't know that she had high cholestrol until she was in her late sixties. My own cholestrol level is normal.

Have your cholestrol level checked out by your GP and then work out a correct diet to reduce it, or just stabilise it. One of the things that was recommended to my Mum by her GP was to have a glass of red wine with her main meal!

We watch adverts so much and take in all that they tell us - don't forget that they are not worried about your health, they just want your money!
