I consider myself and atheist but also belive in exsistance after death, and that math doesn't decribe reality very well. Other atheists tell me that's stupid and not what "Athiests are". Am I guilty of atheist heresy? Will I be burned on a stake for it, or simply not get tenure?

There is no such thing as "atheist heresy" because atheism is not a belief system and doesn't have a doctrine. "Atheist" just means "without God". And although I don't believe in an afterlife I don't think you're stupid because you do.
Many people might consider their personal convictions a "doctrine" that they would like others to follow as well, but it's just their personal opinion.

No you are not guilty of anything. I am a mystic. I believe in reincarnation and life after death but I do NOT accept Catholicism or any type of Christianity. I know that bothers people but I saw first hand how evil Christians are when I grew up and still to this day.

Atheism is only the lack of belief in gods. Unless you believe in one or more gods, you're an atheist. That's the extent of atheist doctrine.
Your belief in life after death may well be stupid and illogical, but an afterlife isn't inherently theistic.

Hmm. That doesn't sound atheist. I guess that it would depend on what you envision the afterlife like. If you believe that you exist through yourself it is satanist like in a way. Who are they to say that you are wrong? You can believe what makes sense to you of course. If athiests believe that they exist in this world without a God, who says that it can't be the same way in the next world?

Adventists would be considered heretics too for not going to church Sunday. We also believe a resurrection is necessary for an afterlife, or else you don't exist anymore. The early Christianity was similar to Judaism and were persecuted by Rome, until they adopted Sunday worship.

Don't believe me? Check a Catholic encyclopedia. It says tradition is over the bible, but most Catholics aren't aware of this.

a million - even with any claims to the choice, atheism is _not_ a faith or according to danger a non secular course. 2 - An atheist is a individual who shares a stance with different atheists. That stance is the widely recognized because of the fact the rejection of the belief (theory) of deity (God) and any linked religions or religious course. that's wide-unfold in societies that are fantastically Christian in nature. 3 - on account that's somebody stance on the subject / life of deity / God, it has no beginning ingredient. as quickly as I grew to alter into an atheist, I have been agnostic. in the previous that, i replace into an Episcopalian (Christian), yet whilst no one ought to grant me reasoned and functional responses to my "how come" questions, I in basic terms gave it up. Later, as I examined what i presumed, i got here across that i did not have confidence, for loss of any data (something many atheists proportion). Later in existence, I felt i replace into lacking something, yet did not comprehend what, and at last got here across the solutions to my 'how come" questions, subsequently becoming to be a member of that faith and gaining a private witness of the supernatural. in short, there is no "doctrine" or "coaching" in contact. that's a controversy of theory, or, thus, disbelief.

you have to consider what your thinking, existence after death??? what would make this possible? would it be a magical creature that poops rainbows? you could say that the release of chemicals in your brain triggered by the lack of oxygen can cause a state of euphoria which to you would last forever becasue time no longer exist. If you look at it like that then you can be an atheist.

It would seem that such people who tell you that have their own code of conduct, but no Doctrine.

Atheists can believe whatever they want besides Gods and still be considered Atheist.

No. You can believe whatever you want. Atheists don't believe in God, beyond that, anything is possible.
