I'm 6"3, 270lbs and have been going to the gym 4 times a week for at least an hour a day for the past 3 months. Finally after pretty much getting no results I took the advice of a fellow gym member and bought some Whey Protein and I was wondering when is the best time to use it ?

Whey protein has it's Benet's. Protein is one of the essential building blocks for muscles. The best time would be about 30-60 minutes before you work out. This allows the protein it begin to be taken in by the body and also help you not to work out on a semi-full/full stomach. There is a lot of protein in these types of drinks. You body can only take in so much protein at one time - which is another reason to wait a little bit before working out. If the protein is sitting in your stomach instead of being utilized by your body you are back were you started.

One thing I would look into for you would be the use of amino acids. There are several that are needed in order to build muscle (synthesised protein etc) and are not made by your body. Which means you need to get them from your diet. L-Arginine and L-Glutamine are two examples. Higher end protein powders will put them into their mix - but not all have them, or in high amounts. You can find them in an inexpensive supplement form at your pharmacy, health food or sports store.

Usually twice per day. I usually take it in the morning, then later on in the afternoon or evening. I also take Creatine before my workout.
