I saw a clip of a couple using "time of my life" as their first song and it was incredible! I guess it was all over the talk shows and stuff. it was on youtube and their names were james and julia i'll try to attach the link i think goes with it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYhlm9GTAQ0. I found it again by typing dirty dancing wedding into my yahoo search engine. If it were me and I wanted this theme at my wedding I would make sure to put it right in the invitations for the guests to dress accordingly. Id maybe make the wedding dress a white version of the red one Baby wore to the dance at the Drake or even the dress she wore at the very end. Groom could wear black dress shirt sans tie and black dress slacks ala Patrick Swayze. I would follow along the lines of the movie more for the reception. First dance groom comes to get "baby" out of the corner and go from there. Have a blast and dont let anyone other than your fiance change your mind. THis is your special day

Sounds excellent!!!
If I were you, Id watch a few films from the era and pick out some ideas you really like.
The cars, the style of clothes and hair etc etc.
Then, I would look for a venue that you can maybe transform into a 60s style diner, that would be pretty cool!
There must be somewhere online that does this kind of thing.
Good Luck! sounds like an excellent day!!

The fashions were Jackie Kennedy style. The hair was bouffant, with thick black eyeliner. Pearls were in. My aunt got married in the early 60's and she wore a ballerina style dress (calf length), with a very wide skirt. Satin was in.
You'd have to look at the music, too. A good era for early Beatles, The Rgihteous Brothers, The Walker Brothers, The Everley Brothers, Helen Shapiro etc etc.
Your menu would have to take it into account. I think in those days spag bol was considered exotic! But I have a 60's Nancy Spain cookbook somewhere to look up the dishes.
Have fun!

There's a few good suggestions here so I won't add to those but instead of table numbers at your reception, you could try dances that were popular at the time or since Dirty Dancing is your favourite movie, try the names of the characters. I would, personally, wear pearls with my dress if it was me...and at that point, the popular style of dress was what Jackie wore when she married JFK. If you can find someone who could make a copy of that dress, and if it looks good on your body type, you could try that as well.

The lanterns sound fantastic...i'm guessing the Alice in Wonderland element is extra you than him, it really is excellent, yet ought to you locate some way of incorporating some thing he's interested in, like i do not comprehend if he's into golfing for instance yet you would have a tiny putting section (or in case you pick to be extra precise, croquet) or you would have some card video games or some thing like that in accordance to his particular interests?

Hire a pink cadalac! Try contacting different wedding planners. I don't really know, just thinking off the top of my head! Good luck though, sounds great! Congratulations!

it must be different in our corner of the world, because the wedding day is supposed to be sacred.
is it not enough that you are marrying the person you love more than anyone else?
the day is supposed to be about romance, love, commitment. not about theme parties. sorry i just think the idea is so tacky and low class!
anyway you will do what you want to do regardless of what anyone here says so go for it! its your day!
i do wish you love and joy!

I think nude weddings were the craze in the U.S. during the 60's. I strongly suggest you try it.
