747-200:
Smaller upper deck, 3-men flight crew, no winglets, older avionics
747-400
Longer upper deck, 2-men flight crew, winglets, modern avionics, larger passenger cappasity and range
The 747-300 falls right in the middle. Has almost the same avionics as the -200, no winglets, but dos have the extended upper deck.

A 330-200 and -300
Almost same design, little bit more range from the -200, more passanger cappasity in the -300 (in the range of 100 extra passengers.

Please people, dont answer when you dont know what your talking about... the 747-200 has a smaller "upper deck" and has a three man crew with a captain, first officer, and second officer... the second officer was done away with, in favor of more computers in the cockpit and the whole airplane was stretched but the big stretch was done in the upper deck, also, crew rest was relocated to right behind the cockpit from where it was located in the middle of the lower deck. The difference in the A330-200 and 300 are minimal. There is no difference in the cockpit, everything is the exact same which helps pilots so that they can be certified to fly both, the only difference for the airbus is the change in number of passengers, the -300 (in the NWA 2-class configuration) holds 2 more pax in business class, and 53 more in economy than its -200

The 747-400 is larger, holds more people and has more range and more power. It also has a two person crew (captain and first-officer) compared to the 3 person (captain, f/o and flight engineer) of the -200. This is due to this "glass" (electronic) cockpit and the automation of many of the flight engineers functions on the -400

The Airbus family, from the A318 to the A380 have the same cockpit set-up. There are some different systems that need to be learned from plane to plane (besides the size differences). This is a selling point for having an all-Airbus fleet, as their are few differences to be learned, so training is easier and allows for faster progression.

The last two digits identify the customer, when they are not 00. So a 747-406 is a 747-400 belonging to KLM.

The amount of passengers it holds, and the 747-400 has a glass cockpit which means they don't need a flight engineer.

747-400 - 747-200 = 200.

A330-300 - A330-200 = 100.

Dont forget to carry the one.

The ones with the larger numbers have more seats in each case. Correspondingly the cockpit panels are different as the entire planes with the larger numbers are bigger all around.
