I have a television mounted on the wall in my kitchen,about 3 feet above a microwave oven.Allso I have a dvd player sitting on top of the microwave for the wall mounted tv,will this hurt the DVD player or the DVDs?

Microwave is shielded, will be okay. Microwaves cook by producing heat, they rapidly vibrate mostly salt particles to cook the food from the inside. The magneto which does this doesn't generate much heat and since DVD's aren't magnetic shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't recommend setting a portable hard drive or a VHS player on it though...just to be safe.

Dont put anything above the microwave, the dvd player may be heated by the microwave destroying it and causing it to not work properly. And when the dvd player malfunctions, it may also affect the disc.

microwaves are shielded so almost no wave is going out, anyway make sure that it's a good one (good brand). The only issue could be the heat from the microwave going to the components of the dvd player.

Hmm, you're worried about what the microwave will do to your TV and DVD, but you'll still use, and "cook?" your food in it!
Go figure!
You're zapping away nutrients and risking your health.
