If you "potty" trained him properly, he'll do his thing only when you take him out for a walk. (normally 3-4 times a day)

I can only tell you how many times my Japanese Chin male has to wee and it is 517 times per walk. Where he stores all that urine is just amazing. We live in an apartment comples that allows pets and he has to cover up the scent of every animal who has ever walked through where we are walking. Every rock, shrub or tree gets the attention and in trying to lift his leg high enough to wee wee where the last great dane has gone, he usually falls over but being male, he recovers and blames it on his wife or girlfriend. LOL He's the first male dog I've ever owned and he is a hoot. He's got Testasterone up to his eyeballs. I made an appointment to get him neutered as soon as I got him which is a good thing because I awoke during the night to find him in my bed humping my leg. I got him in a rescue and I think he was just so grateful to be removed from the awful situaion he was in but now, he is mommy's little love bug. I've learned to enjoy slow walks with lots of stops and to hear him bark at somone is just hilarious. His hackles on the back of his neck raise up, he opens his mouth and goes woo woo woo very softly. It's really intimidating, let me tell you. Any one trying to mug me would die laughing so he is an excellent guard dog. Once the guy fell to the ground laughing we'd really have him because Sunny would have to lift his leg and wee on him. So, how many times does your dog need to wee?

It does depend on how much water your dog drinks. Also his health. If your dog is weeing more than usual, get him checked by a vet ASAP. He may have a health problem.

An adult dog should be able to hold his bladder for about 8 hours but it depends on how much water he has been drinking too. I try to let my guys out about every 4 hours.

Do you mean pee?
For adult dog, they can normally hold for a longer time. 3-4 times a day would be fine.
